Humming softly, Mia made her way through the dense forest. She glanced around suspiciously, hoping her humming would drown out the sounds of the woods. She really didn't want to be. Y'know. Eaten by some wild creature. But..that only happened in the movies. ......Right? She had wandered off from home (if you could even call it that...) to try to...well. Okay, so she didn't really have a clue as to why she left the comfort of...."home". Somewhere she knew, somewhere with a bed and blankets...Oo, and tea! And cookies and. Shit... The hunger was setting in and it was only a matter of time before the stomach pains. Mia checked the bag resting on her hip and glared. no food. of course. there hasn't been food for days. Frowning, Mia continued on to..wherever she was going. Left foot, right foot, left foot, right-- Oof! Tripping over a branch, Mia tumbled to the ground. The few contents of her bag spilled out and her small compact mirror slid down to a road...just out of Mia's view. Well isn't this just fucking great... Mia looked back and forth quickly, starting to hyperventilate. shitshitshitshit...

Re: shades of [ g r e y ] in a [ b & w ] world

YAY CASSYCHELLE.

Sita was wandering again. The trees of her lands flourished, and it was fun to walk through the trees and the fields with her young daughter. Sashalyn was old enough to toddle along, but Sita kept a tight grip on the girl's hand, not knowing what lay within the forest... Or rather, knowing all too well. The corn she'd eaten from a jar earlier settled nicely within her stomach, and she smiled at her baby. 'Mamamamama...' Sasha babbled, pointing at different animals and flowers. Harvest season was almost coming to a close, and Sita was proud of all the work she'd done. It was amazing how she could survive without Corey.

A voice rose from ahead of them, and Sita covered her young daughters ears to the curses. When they reached the falled girl, the dark haired leader saw it was Mia, the pack babysitter and one of her favoured members. Still she reprimanded her. Miranda Palmer, what do you think you're doing, speaking like that? I surely hope you don't use that language in front of my daughter. Just the same, she knelt down and collected the contents of Mia's bag and slipped everything back in the sack. You alright?

Mia flew to her feet and resisted the urge to salute the woman in front of her. Sita. she said, faking courage. Of course I don't speak like this in front of Sasha. Her words were crisp and clear. Which really...was the exact opposite of how she felt. She wanted to throw herself back to the ground at Sita's feet and beg for forgiveness. But she was getting better at this, this acting like everything was okay deal. It was something you had to learn in Arciero -- and learn it fast. And yes. Of course I'm fine. Mia brushed her faded jeans off and took her bag back from Sita. Seeing Sasha, she bent down and grinned. Hey there, cutie. It was amazing how Miranda's tone changed when she talked to the child. From being completely hostile to sickeningly sweet in less than 60. She carefully brushed the child's hair out of her face and turned back to the girl's mother. Where are you headed?

Irritating. That's what Mia was being at the moment. Or maybe Sita was just irritable to begin with, but even Miranda touching Sasha was bothering her. She scooped her daughter up and held her on her hip. No need to get snippy, Miranda, she said in her normal, cold tone. We're just going for a walk. You... Sita sighed under her breath. She didn't really want company, but she knew it would be rude not to invite Mia along. You can join us, if you're not busy. We're on our way to the Centre to call a clan meeting. She paused. It would only make sense for Mia to come now. You probably ought to come.

Mia raised an eyebrow at Sita, watching as Sasha was swept up into her mother's arms. Biting her tongue, Mia nodded. I'll follow along, I suppose. Mia struggled to keep her real opinion silent. She'd rather slice her eyes open than go one more step with the woman. She didn't hate her, no. She was intimidated and..slightly afraid. The only reason she stuck around in Arciero was to care for Sasha...that and where else was there to go? ...And could she leave if she wanted to? She felt like she was in Arciero's grip, the ruined city was holding onto her, holding her back. Sighing softly, she looked down and kicked at a patch of dirt. Remembering that Sita was standing before her, she looked up. Now, now, Mia...mustn't show the queen you're unhappy Clan meeting, hm?

It wasn't that Sita meant to be cold to Miranda. No, wait... yes, it was. She meant to be cold to everyone but Aimee. Corey was gone, leaving her a single mother, and Arciero was getting to be more of a pain in her arse than anything. Why had they even come here? She had sacrificed so much just to be here, to be here with Corey. And where was he? Not with her, that was for damn sure. Yes, she finally said. Come along. She turned and made her way to the Centre, and let herself in. She opened the door and held it for Mia. Hurry, it's warm in here.

Mia shuffled after Sita, wrapping her jacket tight around herself. Cursing herself, Mia struggled to figure out why she even bothered with Sita. She was rude and bitter and damn near impossible to be around. But then there's Sasha...Mia smiled at the young girl in Sita's arms. Bella would've been her age by now... Sighing softly, Mia remembered her daughter. Bella, who would have been her mother's pride and joy. Bella, the child she would've had to remember her James. Bella, her child, her baby...who never had the chance to see the world. Hearing Sita's voice, she nodded, dried her tears, and stepped inside. What next? Is there anything I can do?

Re: hrm.

I am such a slacker. I've been so busy.

Sita noticed Mia drying silent tears, but she didn't say a word. It was so difficult for her to deal with emotion. She wasn't sure what she would do with Sasha... Corey wouldn't have wanted her to be cold and emotionless like Sita. But then, the dark-haired mother wasn't really emotionless. She just kept it all inside, to keep herself safe. That wasn't as bad as having no emotions, right?

Right. It wasn't. It was worse.

Well, Sasha and I just got done slipping the notices under everyone's doors. So they should be here soon enough. Then she murmured, pained at the fact that she was giving in. What's up with you, anyhow? You seem a little off.

my post is....eh. Long? Terrible? Eh.

just so you know, you'll never know

Mia nodded. So...we wait. Mia attempted to smile. I can do that... Her voice trailed off. She can wait. She'd done it before...

She had been young, much younger than she should've been... waiting for news, any news, about James. And the news had come...much, much too late. By then, she was so sick with worry that she wasn't eating. Wasn't leaving the house, wasn't speaking to anyone, wasn't caring anymore...

And the news just confirmed all her fears.

Jamies never knew. But they said there was no way it was her fault. No way she could've known. No way she could've prevented the miscarriage. They said it happens, they said it's fairly common.

They said there was no way she could've known it was a girl.

But she knew.

She and James had agreed on 'Bella' long before the pregnancy was a possibility and she refused to let the name go, let her daughter go.

James, Mia, and Bella...what a happy little family we would've been...

Hearing Sita's words, Mia looked up. Hm? Oh. No, no I'm fine. Mia attempted another smile, hoping it didn't look as fake as she felt.

Just fine..
