p+ escape

lay me down to sleep
I love Xanne.
i pray you'll hold me dear
It was morning, but the sun had yet to be exposed to the souls of the damned that occupy these lands. It was still dark, the purple of the skies slowly yet surely drawing in. Maybe a little too early for the young fae, but she was restless this particular day, and couldn’t help it. The ebony bundle of joy slowly uncurled herself, small thinly coated tail rose high as she lay there on her belly, front legs stretched out before her, the hinds stretched back. Brilliant green orbs were the only color that showed inside the den, her eyes set on the world outside the entrance of the cave. Getting in trouble didn’t phase her, but getting into a whole lot of fun was the picture that was set in her mind. Let’s face it, it was too early, but hopefully her mother wasn’t awake, and she was damn sure her brother wasn’t.
This morning, she was a solider, in the midst of the battle field, his enemies up ahead. She was now a man, going to fight for his home, and she couldn’t do it lying around here. Standing up only to crouch down low, she began to slowly creep toward the entrance, her tail still held high and proud. Once there she looked both ways, making sure the enemy wasn’t near the base. The coast was clear, and without hesitation she leapt from her spot and landed catlike about a foot away. She hopped a few more times before hiding behind a nearby tree, carefully pushing her back against it and using her hind legs to push upward. With great effort, she had succeeded in mimicking someone standing against a tree, though her posture was horrible and she was swaying a bit.
After a few seconds of her glory she fell on her right side, a little yelp escaping her throat. Though she quickly scrambled up on all fours and ran for the nearest tree. The enemy had no doubt heard her, and perhaps they were on her trail.
