let it fall [aw]

All welcome. Please use logic.

It was the first time Ennui had left the den alone in three months.

Fiera and Sindri were asleep still. The rain had fallen in sheets, and her children had opted to stay indoors and sleep late. It was a treat, because Ennui was a strict parent to live under. Her pups got up at sunrise, no matter when they'd gone to sleep. She knew they thought it unfair sometimes, but it was best for them to be on scedule. However, today there were no lessons she could teach. Their den was right where a lot of the heavy rain hit, and now it was simply muddy. Ennui decided that bathing two pups with mud matted in their pelts wasn't on her agenda.

And so Fiera Placido and Sindri Azrael slept on.

Ennui wasn't interested in going very far. She didn't need to, and besides, where would she go? It seemed that there was nobody there except them, so the only time she really left Eventide Grove was for food and lessons. She was doing neither today, so she simply walked to the other side of the den, where there lay a shallow, unmarked grave. A grave that shouldn't have had to exsist. But she'd been drunk, he'd been persuasive. He'd been horny, she'd not. He didn't care, and she made him care.

Now she had children, and he was dead.

And Eventide Grove seemed to be without a trace of another but her and her family.

Re: not it

yay... Sindri is here. If this sounds a little too acid-happy its probably because it is...

Sindri was huge, bigger than his mommy, bigger than his sister, bigger than any tree he'd ever seen. This was weird because just a few moments ago he had been a puppy just like his sister, but against his sisters wishes he drank the green water and at this moment he had no regrets. Being big was awesome! He trampled over flowers and splashed in the lake, a puddle compared to his size, but then something happened. Something... sad. It was his mommy, calling up to Sindri, pleading him to come down--but Sindri wouldn't. He couldn't! How was he supposed to just 'poof' get small again? But still his mommy and his sister pleaded, and this made the giant Sindri sad. So sad that he began to cry. His tears ran down his cheek like normal, but when they fell from his fur they made a huge splash on the ground, almost hitting mommy. He cried out, 'MOMMY, i don't want to be big anymore!' but it was no use. He'd never be able to snuggle again, never be able to get into the den... never.... and then it blurred.

Sindri Azrael awoke in the den with a quick jerking motion. What was that? Just a dream? just a dream... it couldn't have been anything more. He looked down at his paws, they were normal sized again! his sister, asleep beside him.. He was as small as her! This rush of joy was fallowed by a weird feeling that he had slept in. Slept in? No way, mommy would never have aloud it... yet it had happened. Sindri made a notion at that time never to let mommy let him sleep in again, it caused scary dreams!

The pup got up and looked around for mommy, but she was no where to be seen, but he just had to go tell her about his dream. Sniffing around, he fallowed her scent to the other side of the den, where he greeted her with a sweet little nuzzle to the side of her maw. "Hi, Mommy, why didn't you wake me up?" he asked with little sense of urgency.

my little angel

Rose, you ARE Acid-Happy.

Ennui smiled softly and nuzzled her child, forgetting about the mud. Something about having her children around made her go soft, something she wasn't all that proud of, but she couldn't help it. Sindri was a sweet pup, despite his name, which meant 'Little Angel of Death.' Well, Sindri Azrael was the little angel of Ennui Svajone, and she was surprised that he could be so gentle, considering the way he'd been conceived. It gave her a little home, because Sindri was much like she'd been.. Could she have turned out better? It was a thought that stung her deeper than she would have liked. But then, who likes thoughts that sting anyhow?

She realised that Sindri had spoken. He wanted to know why he hadn't been risen at daybreak. Ennui chuckled. Any other day, little one, you would be begging me to let you oversleep. Then she nuzzled the child and nodded a little. It's just rained, but if you're careful not to become too much of a mess, you may stay out here with me. In her head, Lisai was speaking up. Are you crazy, Nuii? The child will be so matted in mud, you'l-- Shut up.

Then she turned back to the grave and sighed. She realised now that she should, as odd as it was, be thanking the wolf who had nearly killed her.

eww... its wet.
I know! I can't help it.

He just stood there in his stupor, still half asleep. That dream had been creepy, a little too creepy for his liking, but his mother didn't understand. She wouldn't, of course, she was too big to have scary dreams, she was beyond such childish endeavors. Wasn't she?

His silly thoughts of scary dreams were interrupted by his mother's most beautiful voice, her voice always made Sindri smile. Any other day, little one, you would be begging me to let you oversleep, and wasn't it the truth? Sindri couldn't remember a day that he had been aloud to sleep in, and there was a time when he could sleep whenever he had wanted... But still, he couldn't remember it, so it didn't count. It wasn't fair! Why, of all days, did it have to be the day that Sindri could sleep as long as he wanted, that he had to wake up on his own do to habit? Ugh, habit was so overrated.

The pup could still feel the wetness from the rain that had just passed, It had been moist in the den, and now that he took the time to look around, it was wet all around him. Gross! That feeling that he got when he took a step into the wet ground was so squishy. Sindri nodded back, although he was scared that he would, in fact, get all muddy, aside from all the precautions he took. "Ok, Mommy, I can be suuuper careful." Sindri was always suuuper careful, he was always very clean, and always enjoyed being bathed.

Now that the babe was given permission to stay outside with his mommy, Sindri wasn’t sure what to do. He, by no means, wanted to run around because that would not be being super careful, so he dropped his haunches slowly, trying not to get the fur of his belly on the icky wet ground. It looked, and felt a little awkward. "…Mommy," Sindri looked a little anxiously at his mother, though he was smiling, "Do you ever have scary dreams?"

The question had been on the pup’s mind for a while, and he finally got a chance to get it out. He wondered if she’d think he was being silly—granted, that’s how he felt as he asked his mommy the silly question.

things i'll never say

Hm. Sorry I took so long.

If there was one thing that Ennui could count on, it was Sindri doing his best to stay clean. Fiera wasn't as exact about it, but Sindri didn't like to have a speck of dirt on him. Ennui always found it amusing how her son asked for baths without convincing. Lisai said it was a curse.

Nuii, he just wants to make you happy. It'll ruin him in the end, make him depressed and clingy, and he'll do anything anyone tells him to. He'll end up in a bad ground with others that will sacrifice him to the humans...

Ennui didn't believe that.

Scary dreams? Sudden change of topic. No signal light. Children did come up with such odd questions, it was true. Ennui couldn't really remember her childhood anyhow, but pups were naive and uneducated, and they tended to underestimate the world and overestimate themselves. Perhaps Sindri thought he was the only one to ever have a scary dream. Ennui laughed inwardly - Not likely. The nightmares that had tortured her since the night her children were conceived were more than scary dreams. She woke up exhausted and restless after reliving that horrid night over and over and over again.

'Does Sindri know about him?

The ebony wolfess sighed softly and nodded. Yes, Sindri, I have bad dreams. Why? Did you have one?

Re: No way!
--

Morning was growing older and older, and Sindri wondered for a second how much longer until no shadow time it was. It was very weird for him to be up before she woke him up and he knew it, he could still be sleeping if it wasn't for that stupid dream! This seemed so unfair, that his sister could still sleep and he was awake, but then again... if Feira had been awake, Sindri would not be having this alone time with Mommy. Alone time with Mommy was good. Her nod was sincere, and her answer was not at all what Sindri had expected.

Mommy was always full of surprises, but this one was way out of the park: She had bad dreams too?! No way, Sindri would not believe that, and at that moment his scary dream meant nothing. He was only concerned with Mommy, and her bad dreams. What could someone of such awesomeness possibly have a bad dream about?

Monsters? Killer Bees? Giant rabbits?

He was about to ask her but realized that she had directly asked him a question. Wouldn’t it be rude not to answer? Sindri thought so, even as uninterested in the bad dream he had now. The bad dream, oh yeah, I did. It was nothin’. he said, unconcerned. The pup shrugged and shifted his weight from one side to the other. Taking up as little space as possible was important to him, but it made him feel crowded and he was never comfortable. The act was unconscious; perhaps subconscious… anyway, it never aware of the effort.

Clearing his throat and wipping his tiny little tail around his left leg, Sindri cocked his head to the side curiously. But Mommy, You are too big to have bad dreams... He said, as if that was supposed to make a conclusion, he looked up and to his right, and then back at his ebony mother, Ever have the one where you are ginormous and can’t get back in the den?

Sindri had.

i [adore] you

Crap, sorry sorry sorry.

Yeah, Nuii-pup. You are too BIG to have bad dreams. Lisai's taunting was really starting to get on Ennui's nerves. She couldn't understand where this voice had come from or why. She'd had it for all her life, since she was a pup, and it'd never done anything but torture her.

It was always Lisai's fault. Lisai had influenced her to do so many stupid things, stupid things that Ennui wasn't sure whether were good or bad in the end. Oh, dear, I have you doubting yourself again, don't I, Nuii-pup? Ennui cringed. Sindri was watching her expectantly, and she finally spoke.

You dreamt you were ginormous, did you? Ennui smiled and nuzzled her child. My poor baby. But you're not ginormous now, and you fit in the den just fine, my beautiful baby boy.

Oh, where would she be without her children?

Re: i [adore] you
sorry for the horrible post. my wolf rpg hasn't been very good lately.

You dreamt you were ginormous, did you? how did she know?! Mommy was always so amazing like that, when Sindri said one thing, she knew exactly what he meant, even if he didn't say it directly, and that was the kind of skill that Sindri found amazing. But there was something weird that happened, she cringed before she spoke. Maybe she had the same dream too, Sindri thought to himself as she continued on, My poor baby. But you're not ginormous now, thank god and you fit in the den just fine, my beautiful baby boy.

Sindri grinned, his mommy was probably the best mommy there ever was, he never even bothered to think about a father. Father, in fact, was a foreign idea. Sindri knew he had a mommy, and he knew he had a sister, but with the absense of daddy, the pup never thought that maybe there was another parent figure. It was all mommy and sister. And really, that's all he needed. Just look at him, he was perfectly fine.

"Your right, mommy. i can fit in the den now. i hope i never have that dream again," it was all Sindri could think to say, but it seemed enought to validate the situation. And there he sat, in the mud, still trying his hardest to stay clean in the world of dirty things.

Re: i [adore] you

lay me down to sleep

hewwo :]

ETA: Editing your table in ~ Xanne

i pray you'll hold me dear

Deep sleeper, she must have been, for she slept through just about everything surrounding her. Like the vocals she’d later identify as only her mother and brother, or the rain that fell outside. They were only faint sounds to that of rain which almost drowned their voices out. It held a harsh note as it splattered repeatedly against the walls of the den, and if she had been awake, she’d been scared to death by it if she had been any younger. This night, versus every other night, was total opposite of what she had wanted before. Other nights, she always dreamt, only to be awakened in the middle of it, which made her a little grumpy and dreadfully sleepy despite how many hours she had been allowed. This night, she had no dreams, none at all, and yet she was not nuzzled in the side to rise and welcome the shine of the sun above. No, she was left there in the den, enjoying her dreamless sleep, and yet dreading it at the same time.

She woke naturally, for no reason at all, except that maybe she was given all the rest she had been required, and her body simply wanted to get right into motion. Eyelids popped open, her large emerald eyes adjusting as she looked about, a little confused at first. Sure, her mom wasn’t around, and maybe that was a bad thing, but her brother as well? No matter how Fiera had acted toward him, she felt strange and indifferent about him not being around. It was kind of like her being protective of him, he was her partner in the many puppy crimes, the past and the ones to come perhaps. If mother wanted to go out and do her thing, that was okay, but to take her all time favorite buddy and not invite her along?

She would never admit to these feelings though, Fiera thought as she quickly rose and silently made her way toward the entrance. Why would they want to do that anyway? Both of them knew the fun didn’t start until she was around. Creeping up, she peaked outside the den, listening to the last bit of their conversation. At Sindri’s last words, she couldn’t help but speak up as she marched her way over, her paws splashing in the mud, putting her brother at risk of getting some on his ebony coat. “What are you talking about, now you can fit.” Head tilted, and to tease playfully with her brother, she added. “You’re silly.”

of mud and reality

Yay! Hey Amber.

Ennui turned to see Fiera coming out of the den, saying something taunting towards Sindri. It wasn't unusual, Fiera and Sindri always prodded at eachother. Ennui was more worried about where Fiera's paws were going. Fiera Placido, don't splash! Her voice was stern but not unkind, as always with her pups. She loved these children more than life itself, and she was only trying to raise them as best as she could. Plus, you don't like cleaning the mud out of their pelts, Lisai added, and Ennui sighed.

Gazing at her children, she wondered if they'd figured it out yet. It haunted her, twenty four hours a day and seven days a week, that they would find out about Ciaran. That was the last thing she needed, was two rogue pups, angry about something she couldn't help and wouldn't have wanted to. Without that bastard, she wouldn't have her beautiful children. But it wasn't time to think about that right now. Leaning over and picking Fiera up by the scruff of her neck, she moved the girl over to where it was dry and sat her down. Stay there. I already told your brother, and I'll tell you too. If you get messy, you'll be limited to the den whenever it rains for the rest of the season. Then she smiled gently and nuzzled her daughter. How did you sleep, darling?

Re: i [adore] you

It was like Sindri was having a nice time with his mother, alone, without his stupid sister, and all of a sudden she had to ruin the moment. He rolled his eyes as he heard her say, in her oh so antagonistic way, "What are you talking about, now you can fit. Your silly. Silly? Silly?!' Sindri resented the comment, and was about to give one heck of a come back when Mommy spoke up. It was like all of a sudden all of the attention was on Fiera.

Ennui picked her up and placed her in a dry place, she had been out there for no more than 3 seconds before getting all muddy. He cringed at this, and stuck his tongue out as if it was going to show her a thing or two about sense. It wouldn't, he knew, but she instigated it!

'How did you sleep darling?' Mommy asked Fiera, and Sindri cocked his head to the side. She was lucky to have such nice dreams while his were filled with ginormous scary things. lucky.
