Um...
Well... Um... At least we don't need to worry about him ever "out-performing his contract."

Geez, between 60-80 million? What reporting. Way to narrow it down.
If you're gonna report that, you might as well just say the salary's unknown.

Jasner update on the possible contract value
Quote:As did fellow Sixers restricted free agents Kyle Korver and Willie Green, Dalembert accepted a 6-year deal. Although no one was revealing the value of Dalembert's contract, it is likely to be somewhere between $50 million and $75 million. To wit: If the starting point was $7 million, with the maximum permissible annual raises of 10.5 percent from the base year, it would be worth about $51.5 million. At $8 million, it would be worth $60.6 million. If the starting point was $9 million, it would escalate to $69.68 million; at $10 million, it would vault to more than $82 million.
I'm guessing $60mio. My fear is it will be $70.

Re: Jasner update on the possible contract value
lol my fear was 60!!!
i was really hoping for somewhere around 48-52. seriously 60 doesn't make me happy, but i can deal with it. 70+ is clearly over the top. at least let someone force us to match something that high or give us an opportunity to work out a sign and trade.
don't get me wrong.... i like dalembert and see some of his ability to significantly change the game on the defensive side and the glass, however the risk is just too great. i believe there is a greater than 50/50 chance that he will not improve. i still think he could be effective, if you keep things simple for him and let him play and accept his mistakes. but that kind of player is not worth 12 mil +.
his mentality toward the game reminds me of shawn bradley. the only reason he is a basketball player is because he was gifted with size and skill. while he gives it his all on the court and does what is asked of him in practice, that is it. when that whistle blows, the job is done. both also appear to be really good people off the court too, with helping others, almost to a point where it appears that basketball is just a vehicle for that. noble yes, but i want to win.

6 years, 47 million from an inside source. that would be terrific.

Dabods,
I hope your source is right! That could look something like this:

Re: Jasner update on the possible contract value
If BK is smart then he offered 6 years $47mio with another $15mio available through incentives. Max value then tops the $60mio mark, but only because Mr Inconsistency has gone out and earned every penny of it.

That at least makes some sense unlike the other figures tossed around in the past 20 or so hours.
I find it hard to believe that Gadzuric can agree to 36 million and then Sammy somehow gets 2x(or more) that much. Not saying it can't happen but that makes no sense to me.
I also find it hard to believe that Billy King would go as high as 65-80 million dollars BEFORE even allowing Atlanta to make their offer. Billy King can be accused of a lot of things but he isn't dumb.

Re: Jasner update on the possible contract value
I'd be pleased with 6 years $47M. But these other numbers have me a bit scared...
"The Sixers made a power move this offseason, firing head coach Jim O'Brien, who wasn't a Dalembert fan, and replacing him with Mo Cheeks, who is. Philly let it be known that O'Brien was fired, in part, because the Sixers are committed to Dalembert."
Re: This should make Yeah34 thrilled...
Well, its written by Chad Ford, who's less credible than SAS however
I hope dabods is right. At that money (47 million) the contract is right on. If he ends up outplaying it, more power to him. If he doesn't, then he's movable.

Man, his agent didn't think they could get more than 47 million out of the hawks?
Maybe the hawks GM isn't as dumb as I was giving him credit for.
But wait a minute, since when does Dabods have an inside source, and if so he's been holding out on us

Wow. I'd be so happy with that number. They could add $15 million worth of incentives. I wouldn't mind that either. That would mean Sam couldn't just mosey through his contract. he'd actually have to do some hard work on and off the floor if he really wanted to get paid.
That would be brilliant.
Of course, that's just my opinion. I could be wrong.
Peace

Incentives...
I don't think you can use incentives in the NBA any more. I think the numbers need to be firm... Like my abs.

Re: Incentives...
Tom Moore gives # in dabods' ballpark: After earning $1.6 million last season, Dalembert will average more than $8 million during the length of his new contract.
Re: Jasner reported
58 million indicates a starting salary around 8.5 and an ending salary of 12.5, something like that, right? dabods?
That's a bit too much for Sam. My only fear is that if he actually doesn't improve, and the Sixers can't trade him for fair value because the excuse that it was the coach who was holding him back won't be there now...
But like I said in the other thread, we needed a center. If Sam is to be our future center, then so be it. But he's no longer getting a free ride, if he doesn't start producing consistently, he won't find any love any more.
