could this be Men 1?
Hi there, I am 35 and have had nemerous complaints over the last 2 years that have ended up nowhere. At the age of 25 I became hyperthyroid and was treated with PTU for 2 years, and stayed normal for about 6 years. In the last 2 years I became very fatigued, forgetfull, memory difficulties, muscle weakness, Water weight gain to the tune of 25 lbs. (i'm like a bouy) Dr did blood work..said everything was fine put me on anti-depressants. 10 lbs more and in a absolute fog, I came off them in 6 weeks. Dr sent me to an endo who felt I had a huge goiter and put me on 25mcg synthroid. I started to think a bit clearer, but the water retention was getting worse. My BP was 130/90-100 and I was already on 50 mg Atenenol for past tach and palpatations due to Mitro valve. Within 2 weeks I was gardening with my 12 year old when my heart started to go. When the ambulance arrived my HR was 210 and my BP was 190/160. They chemically converted me, and kept me in the hospital for 3 days because my potassium was 2.8. They did a MRI of my adrenals and found no adnomas...Did a 24 hour urine. Showed normal Ephinephrine, but slightly elevated Metanaphrine and Normetanephrine. 2 week follow up...Endo prescribed Zanax for anxiety, frustrated i asked for all my test results over the last two years and was shocked to learn that I have had consistanly high calcium levels and PTH. Back in with another SVT 3 weeks later to find my potassium was low yet again. New Endo is now diagnosing me with either PHEO or Men syndrome. I wake up almost nightly between 3-5 am and 5-8 pm with rapid heart rate. I'm fatigued and weak beyond words. It has effected everything that I enjoy doing for fear that I'll end up having an adrenal attack or what ever it is I'm experiencing. Can anyone relate? Especially to the water retention, I mean 2 bloody mary's turned into 6 lbs in 4 hours. Also, I'm lactating with normal prolactin levels and my youngest is 11. I mean I thought those puppies should be dried up and cemented by now!!
