The Free City of Greyhawk Home Board
The current month is Patchwall, the first month of autumn, 586.
An influx of visitors, exiles and merchants have arrived, due not only to the booming trade that is taking place in Greyhawk but it's apparent safety in this time of war and uncertainty. So there is still much activity and business even though war surrounds the Flanaess. Events, stranger than normal, have began to manifest themselves on the streets of Greyhawk. For the moment, no one seems to know how or why these bizarre occurances are happening, although it is only a matter of time before they come to the attention of the powerful and knowing.
| The Whistling Fish Inn is located on the east side of Marsh Street some 5-10 minutes walk from the Marsh Gate. Its distinctive sign, in the shape of a large
blowing fish reads, “The Whistling Fish, Potentate of
Potations.” The inn is built of the half-timber construction common to Greyhawk. It is unique in size in that from the position of the inn’s windows, the building appears to have two floors, but the structure
looks much too tall to be an average two-story inn.
Its roof, made of wood shakes, towers above the other buildings in the neighborhood. Even the front door seems unusually tall. A shaggy grass lawn, with blades of deep green along the edges and dark red down the centers, surrounds the inn. Gravel paths lead to the front door and to the adjoining stables. A long hitching rail runs along the front of the building. The proportions of the stable are on a normal scale. It is built of wooden planking and has a sod roof. The main floor is a dining and drinking area. The upper level has eight guest rooms available for the weary traveler. The inn caters to inhabitants and workers of the River Quarter. The clientele is a mix of sailors, farmers, and shop keepers. |
