Problem with rabbit? Hi Lissa, I don't why my rabbit (Snowy) is acting weird. What I mean by this is that each time I give her a kiss on her back side she makes a noise like she trying to tell me to back off, could this be true. And she is alwys near the front of the cage. And when I pet her anyway else, she makes a noise too. Why is this? I know she is not pregent, because I have no bucks and I did not take her to get mated? Please help Also I am going to speak to my parents on seeing if I can mate Brownie, but they will probably say no anyways. Maybe I can get a buck and share the buck for mating Snowy and Brownie, or either one. I also think they will say no to that too, because most of the time I am not home because I am at college during the weekdays, but come home on the weekends, usually on thursdays. Please help as soon as you can, thanks. Fiona You can also e-mail me at: Birdwatch8@aol.com |

Reasons...
Hi Fiona!
You could be right about Snowy. If this is a new thing, and nothing else but her attitude has changed, it could be she is just irritable or angry about something. Sometimes rabbits will get that way. Once I went to see my rabbits and one of them had part of a bag in her cage (how she managed to get I still have no idea) so I said "Oh no!" Then riped it out of the cage, she must have thought that I was yelling at her so she sulked until I held and petted her. She (I know this sounds funny) was upset that she upset me. Now I am very careful around my rabbits and make sure that if I'm in a bad mood they don't think it is because of them. Here is a website on interpreting what your rabbit is doing, it might help you some. Why does my Bunny do that? Also this is a list of different toys that rabbits like to play with:Adventures in Toyland My rabbits like to play with a paper bag and old shower curtain rings. If your rabbits are the same breed having one buck (of the same breed) would be fine, but if you don't mind whether the babies are purebreds or not it would be fine just to mix two breeds. Good Luck! Rabbits-grunting-babies Hi! Yes, she could just be annoyed about something. Make sure that she has her own cage in a relaxed environment with plently of feed and water. If she has just reached sexual maturity, this could greatly change her behavior. This same incident happened with my solid tort doe. When she turned 7 months old, she started making grunting, clicking, and humming sounds whenever I came by her cage. She would put her paws up on the front door of her cage and frantically hang her head over the enterence when I swung open the door to feed her. I decided that she must be "talking" to me, telling me to breed her. So I did, and she turned out to be a great mother, pulling lots of fur and nursing her one fat pink baby several times a day. So I would advise you go go ahaid and breed that doe, if you can. After all, that's what does want to do, make babies! |
