Post-grad courses - any advice?
Can anybody share their experiences of applying for a post-grad SLT course, having worked for a few years in a different field?

Having chatted to a few university admissions depts, I've been told that it's not the subject of my first degree (Eng Lit and Lang) which counts, but the level, and (of course) any work experience.

At the moment I'm working with parents and kids with SEN for an LEA, and have worked in a classroom for a year as a foreign language assistant... does anyone know if this will this be of any use to me?

Does anyone have any good suggestions for finding work experience? Has anyone found anything decent in the voluntary sector?

One admissions advisor told me that if I had a weak science background, it may help me to get an AS Biology - again, any experience of this?

I have also been told by a colleague that it's fiendishly difficult to get onto the 2-year post-grad courses (how kind)... can anyone illuminate me on this matter?

As you can see, I'm quite tentative about the whole thing, and would appreciate as much advice, suggestions, encouragement, etc as possible!!

Cheers!
