Official Questions About Fics Thread
i've been flitting from fic site to fic site for a while now but seeing as i'm new at BL, i wanted to ask you all a few things about your opinions on fanfiction. just ignore me if i sound like an ignoramus ( ) but i'd really like to know....

what are the most popular fanfictions? past, present, future, AU? nookie? with or without DEAN? pure happiness, love overcoming hardship? anything else?

what exactly does a beta do? i mean, i know they read the fic before it's posted and stuff but do they have a part in writing it? are beta readers better if they also write?

why do people write fanfiction? aspiring writers? just love the characters?

does anyone ever get bad feedback?

may have more but that's all i can think of for now, thanks for answering (if anyone does!)

Re: Official Questions About Fics Thread
what are the most popular fanfictions?: I;d say romance probably.

past, present, future, AU?: Some prefer future becuase you can basically do what you want. Present is pretty popular, adding stuff to current episodes.

nookie?: :lol Depends on who you ask and what age the reader is.

with or without DEAN?: If he's evil then yes. If not, well there aren't many Dean loving fics out there.

pure happiness, love overcoming hardship?: Some people go for the angst, I prefer fluff with a plot.

what exactly does a beta do? i mean, i know they read the fic before it's posted and stuff but do they have a part in writing it? are beta readers better if they also write?: Some just correct grammer. Others add lines in or tell you what seemed out of character or tell you to change certain things around. Pointing out inconsistencies and such.

why do people write fanfiction? aspiring writers? just love the characters?: I love the characters and I love writing. Fanfiction is easier to write then pure original fiction and others just like getting positive feedback.

does anyone ever get bad feedback?: Other then the occasional 'You spelled this wrong' No. I try to remain as realistic as possible in most of my fics. Others I just do for the hell of it. It's all about what you're interested in. If you write a good summary people will know what to expect and not get angry. Most people don't like surprises.
