Life on the Astral Plane...
IN THE VILLAGE of the extinct Inrathi
The profane temple to the Alixir fully smashed to pieces within hums with Cleo and Marcus's energies, the characters had made their last stand against the approaching legion of winged beasts. Cleo, drenched in the juices of the wyrm, stood at the decimated workbench near a type of forge at the far end of the room. Windows let in the light of the Astral Sun, bathing Marcus and Cleo in the first view of light they have seen in some time - yet they are unscathed. The sun of the astral plane does not seem to do them any harm. Nonetheless, Marcus stood near the great door to the village tradeshouse, made permanant by his knowledge of the time streams. He could feel the wild stream of the Astral Plane, chaotic, yet melodius. The harmonic frequancy wasn't that hard to determine, and with Marcus's skill, the travellers were safe within the strange reliquary. The carnivorous creatures moving in a great fog seem to have flown away with the sudden break of Astral Day.
The walls were made of a strange wood-like substance. (Intel+Science/Hearth Wisdom -3 for astral plane differential, + Order/Chaos or +Astral Plane knowledge. Difficulty 6). The ground is littered with newly-carved, yet recently sundered religious artifacts of the strange wyrm worshippers (Perc. + Occult -1 for astral plane differential. Difficulty 8). There is a knock at the permanant door. Marcus sences that it is a Creature of Order. Cleo sences that the creature eminates a reddish haze, a strange pseudo aura that she had never seen before.
----------what do you do, Marcus and Cleo? How did you roll?
MEANWHILE...
Oras, the Mekhetim Astral Physicist, finds himself somewhat at a disadvantage... The Mekhetim Temple flagship hangs in the air, trapped on a mountainside. Unable to dematerialize, Oras set Jacob's ghoul, Nuuk, to work in helping him fashion a backup dematerialization sequencer, though he seems lost, being accustomed to being a peasant. His newly-ghouled daughter, Hirut, nurces her daughter as she stares daggers into Oras's back. Mekhet's conduit youth, known to others as Ba'ashou, sleeps at Hirut's feet. All four mortals are present and accounted for, though the Salubri seems to still be missing. If she jumped out of the vessle, as Marcus's investigations suggest, than surely she would be ripped apart by the forces of the interstitial reflex barrier... why would anyone do that? Perhaps she didn't know what would happen. Or perhaps she is hidden very well... it would have to be very well indeed to hide from Oras, however.
Nonetheless, all of the travelers are gathered in the Console Chamber. Oras, having searched through the spare parts has found enough raw material from which to work, but it is a tedious process, and success is certainly not guaranteed. (Intel + Temple Pilot + Repair. Difficulty 8). Oras sets to work, though he has many options. He could try again to circumnavigate the mountain manually - though that might be perilous without the ability to dematerialize (Intel + Temple Pilot. Difficulty 9), or he could continue his efforts to fix the fault (as stated above), try to make contact again with the amplified psycic force of the Mekhetim Temple, search the temple once more (Perception + Investigation. Difficulty 6), though to thouroughly search, it would take a good half-hour of relaTime, or he could do any number of things that the humble storyteller never imagined.
-------------Stuck in the air, what do you do, Oras?
