"Just waiting"

Chapter 1: A confused night.
-
It's a dark night, the clouds are hiding the moon, and the stars are shining less brightly then any other night in her past 17 years of life. Rory is leaning in the frame of her window, unsure of her future and the things that can happen to her that night. She is trying to concentrate on the book that is resting in her lap but at the same time she can't think straight, she doesn't know what to do with her life, well at least with things that involve "him".
She is thinking about that, when some kind of noise distracts her, taking her by surprise. She jumps when she hears someone saying her name. It's a masculine voice. Slowly she moves towards her window and, a little nervous, she asks the person to appear and to approach the thin light that reflects on the floor of the Gilmore's porch.
"Rory, it's me," says the voice. "It's Dean"
Immediately she feels the disappointment run through her veins, she was expecting someone else. But wait a minute, why was she expecting someone else? The only person that she should be waiting for is Dean! He is her boyfriend! What kind of girlfriend is she, if she can't stop thinking of another guy?
It doesn't work that way.
"Hey about that, It's a little late and I thought you'd probably be sleeping. The house was dark and then I saw that your light was on, so I decided to come here and see if you were awake, instead of knocking on your door and end up scaring Lorelai."
"Oh, it's ok; I can’t sleep anyway, so I guess you're welcome," says Rory with a small smile on her lips "So, what’s up?"
"Well, I want to apologize to you for what I said this afternoon," says Dean approaching the frame of her window. "I know that I don't have any right to be like that, but it's just, he is a jerk, and I hate when he talks to you like if you're another one of his conquests."
"Oh."
"I know that he's only a friend to you, but I'm not that sure of his intentions..."
"Dean-"
"And I know that he likes you and I don't want to lose-"
"Dean, wait! I know that you're worried about this, but relax. I don't think he's interested in me, so please stop saying things that have nothing to do with reality. You know that's not true, and you know that we enjoy talking about books. But that’s it, nothing more, so you don't have to be worried about something that is absolutely nothing!” She pauses to take a deep breath and Dean stares back at her in shock. “I think it's time for me to sleep, ok?”
“Okay...?”
“See you later."
And with a rapid kiss on his cheek, she closes her window and turns off the light, leaving a very disturbed Dean outside.
When she's sure that Dean is gone, she sits on the edge of her bed and takes the book that "he" had given her that afternoon, she begins to caress the golden words that are printed on it’s cover.
