Incoming Players: Read this First
NOTE: Our group is currently full, and we will not be taking in new players at this time.
Welcome to DC by Night. This board serves as a way-station for two games that are currently running in parallel with each other. One is a Vampire the Masquerade game that Michael has been crafting for over a year now. The other is a Hunter the Reckoning game that Aram has just launched after a few months of preparation. There are open slots for both games. Now, onto the good stuff...
Let's all assume that you are here because you wish to join our group. Firstly, we are open to accepting players of any kind, and hold no reservations to our members ideals and thoughts, save for one: Tolerance. Everyone has their own take on this, of course, and we admit that our own is not without fail, so here are a few rules you should be aware of.
Pen and Paper Only: Yes, V:TM and Hunter: The Reckoning lend themselves well to the live action genre, and while I have heard others claim that this is the only true way to play the game, we do not. Quite simply, we prefer to leave the lines between fantasy and reality firmly intact; this is not to say we do not immerse ourselves in our characters, and in facet our Storyteller is uniquely adapt at brining the various NPCs to life with various voices and dialects. We just don't go the full-blown costume and make-up routine. Besides, that stuff is such a bitch to clean off.
Tolerance: As mentioned above, this is paramount. As of now we are a group of five (with a core group of three that meet regularly), all of which are self-identified gay men. That is just how it worked out. We have nothing against breed...er, straight people, and we would welcome those into our brood who are comfortable in their own skin, as are we. However, know that we will not shy away from our sexuality, as many of our characters share a similar make-up, so the topic is ever-present.
Time: If you cannot show up at noon on a Sunday and play until 6 or 7 at night, then you might be left out of many of our gaming sessions. Note: We do allow characters to play on our board, but this is only as an accompaniment to our weekly sessions, and is not meant as the primary form of Role Playing. If you cannot actually be present at the gaming sessions, then you should find another group, as there are many play-by-board ones out there.
Flexibility: Now, as far as the mechanics of the game...well, let's just say that I am the most rules-lawyerish of our group, and half the time I honestly don't give a shit about the rules. We play a bit fast and loose with them, and Michael will make (fair) snap judgments on the rules in the interest of game-play momentum. While this works great for us, it may cause some of you (and you know who you are) to tear your hair out in clumps, so fair warning.
