I met Ricky story with pics
I met Ricky on Tuesday, September 13, 2005. He was being interviewed by WNCI radio station in Columbus, Ohio. I was not invited but I just stood outside of the radio station and waited. My story is awesome because Ricky invited me up to the studio and I was not one of the two winners from the official club to meet and greet Ricky. I knew that Ricky was said to be so nice that I knew he would ask me up to the studio or let me have an autograph or a pic. Well, I got a lot more. Here is my story in pics. Ricky, you are a crazy person and I love your voice and your character. Never change!
Well, what surprised me the most is that he asked me up to the studio. I don't know if that is because I told Dave the story(about not leaving the house for three years and the the first place I went was to a Ricky concert!) That is the truth. Or did Ricky really ask, "Who was that you were talking to and invite her up to the studio." Imagine being in a studio with Ricky Martin. I always imagined being in a studio while the Beatles or Jim Morrison were recording. It wasn't a recording studio per say but it was a studio and I was there right next to Mr. Martin.
He is a surfer, a sky diver, a singer, an actor, a dancer, a philanthropist and he is funny, he has met so many famous people and wow, all of my experience of meeting him is mind boggling.
I still don't know how I got upstairs into the studio.
As a matter of fact, I was standing by my van and Dave yelled over at me, "Sandy, come on upstairs." I went over to the SUV which Ricky arrived in and did not see Ricky right away. I asked, "If they had a difficult time finding the place?" Veikko said, "No, but the driver did!" Then I saw Ricky Martin in all of his glory, standing by the door. I ran up to him and hugged him. I told him, "Welcome back to Columbus, Ohio! We have missed you so much!" He thanked me and then Dave opened the door and as any gentleman, Ricky let me go in first.
I was like. mg I was thinking, "Should I let Ricky go first or what? But I knew I was being treated like a lady, so, I went up the stairs first right in front of Ricky. I was thinking if he was looking at my legs. I might be chubby but my legs look great, that is why I wore a skirt.
This first pic is when I turned around in the lobby of the radio station and took my first pic. From left to right: Tracy, Sony rep from New York, Ricky Martin, Veikko, Ricky's body guard, and Dave, the Sony rep, who I talked to in the parking lot.
Anyhow I was in. The radio people sent us all to the studio. Ricky was nervous when the DJ first got on the air with him. After I took my first pic, I could not find out how the camera worked. It would not move ahead. I thought it did it automactically but it didn't and that is when Ricky looked over at me. He probably thought, Stupid, move the turner!
Here Ricky is looking at me because I figured out how to use the camera. He probably was laughing at me.
If you saw the clip from WNCI radio station, I was standing next to Ricky by the wall with the woman who really won the meet and greet that the official club had.
In this pic the tall black man was video taping the interview for Sony. I know this because I asked him, if I could have a copy of the tape and the man said that Dave, the Sony rep, was going to put it on the Internet. Also in this pic the DJ asked Ricky, "What was the craziest thing a fan had done to meet him?" Ricky was thinking really hard.
I had to get a whole shot of his body because you know, everyone out there in Ricky Land always wants to know exactly what he is wearing! Nice bon-bon shot (if you ask me!)
Ricky told the story of how a girl came up to him and broke a bottle on the left side of his head (apparently she had drunk the contents) and she screamed, "I love you!' Ricky said, "Sometimes love can kill because I had to get 18 stitches in my head!"
The DJ said, "Well, we have your fan club here, Ricky. Let's ask them some questions." I guess, I was the closest to the mic and the DJ asked me, "What is your name?" (He pointed for me to talk into the mic.) I am saying to myself, "I don't want to be on the radio!" I said, "Sandy!" Then the DJ, asked, "Where are you from?" I said, "Columbus, Ohio!" The DJ said, "Can you tell us something new about Ricky?" The DJ looked at me again. I said, "I know Ricky is into some kind of dance that you must be very fit to do. Ricky looked directly at me and said, "Martial arts" I said, "I don't know the name of it but it begins with c-a-p!" Ricky said, "Capoeira! It is from Brazil." The DJ asked Ricky if you needed a partner to do this martial arts and Ricky said, "No!" I think that must have been a question that the DJ was sent to ask Ricky. (I have to pause here and thank Carol whom I asked in an e-mail, "What can I ask Ricky if I meet him?" ) Carol, thanks a million but I did not study the links that you gave me. The teacher wasn't prepared and Ricky was sure to correct me when I said it was a dance and he made clear it that it was a martial art. (Ricky, Smarty Pants!)
The DJ asked me the big question. He asked, "Do you know where Ricky's other tattoo is located?" If you have ever seen my site, the whole theme surounds this pic that I got of Ricky years ago. He was pulling down his pants and showing his heart and flower tattoo. I made this pic as a shrine to Ricky. That is how I came up with the name The True Latino Love God as the name of my site! GULP! I really knew the answer to this question. But I thought to myself, how am I going to put this into words that I can say on the radio and right in front of Ricky Martin himself! I paused and said, "I believe, it is located on his right lower pelvic bone!"(The tattoo is really on Ricky's left pelvic bone but I look at the pic so much that I thought it was located on the right side!) Again thinking of the tattoo and the trail of hair and where it leads. Ricky said, "Now, that one really hurt when they put it on. The one on my arm did not hurt until it got to the upper shoulder." I was thinking about his first tattoo again, "Could it have hurt more because it is in such a sensitive place?" Everyone laughed. Then I rushed and said, "Yes, Ricky was always taking off his shirt and pulling down his pants to show his tattoo in the early days of his career but now he has become so much more conservative!" What to say? I was floored, again.
Thank God for a commericial. Before I talked to Ricky I folded my hands in prayer and bowed my head and he returned the greeting. Now, it was autograph and pic time. I had the folder that the official club sent me and I had my own marker and that was when Ricky said, "Sharpies work the best!" He wrote, To Sandy with all my love! When Ricky was writing, I told him, "That is a Catholic-nun R." Ricky said, "Yes!" I told him that I learned to write my capital Rs the same way and when I wrote on the board, they(my students) would raise their hands and ask, "What is that first letter?" We really related to that and I am so proud of the little altar boy who Ricky once was. The other autograph was for my friends, Satoe and Rinoa and Ricky wrote it on the Sound Loaded CD insert. Time for the pics! I was the first to get a pic with Ricky. Well, it seemed like Ricky and I had a real conversation going on here because I told him that he should have told the story of how his nipple ring was pulled out. He said that really hurt too. I felt like an old friend. Thus the first pic of me and him.
Look at the expression on Ricky's face. It is the killer "I-am-so-handsome-pose!" I was holding onto his pointer finger and as I look back on these pix as I have done so many times. Tell me, if how I was holding his pointer finger in my hand was not Freudian?
Next pic I asked Ricky if we could pose like we were dancing? Ricky said, "Let's just hug!"(How long I have been waiting to here these words from Ricky's mouth.) I said, "I am Ricky's Baila Babe and my dream is to dance with you!" So, I put my arm around his waist and told him to put his other hand up and he grabbed my tiny little hand into his big manly hand and Dave, the Sony rep, took this pic!
Do we both have the same smile? I am going to sell this one to my dentist, so, he can say in his next ad, "Do you want teeth like Ricky Martin?" At this point things became a bit too hot for me. Do you see how huge my breasts are and they were rubbing up against Ricky's abs. Again, I :faint
Back to the interview and I am getting closer to Ricky.
See where Dave, the Sony rep is sitting, well, he moved and I took that seat.
Commercial time and then the winner of the offical meet and greet got her autograph and pic with Ricky.
The Ricky fan was the woman on the far right and her daughter drove her to Columbus and they allowed her up into the studio too. This woman brought a glass incased CD and pics that she had bought from Rosie O'Donnell whose autograph was already on it and Ricky wrote his autograph underneath.

The one girl who won came in about a half an hour late. She drove from Indiana. I don't think that she got any pix until later because we were asked to go to the listening room. We went to sit in there and this Spanish couple asked me what I taught and I knew for a fact that Dave had told Ricky my story when Ricky first arrived. I said, "I teach German and English!" The woman said, "Veikko is German." So, when he popped his head in again I said something to him in German. Then the woman asked me if she could see my badge from the offical club. I got out of my chair and showed her and the man whom she was with asked, "Is this what Jenn makes?" and his friend said, "Yes!" We were supposed to be listening to what Ricky was saying on the radio, but we all were talking. I did him him talk about P4C.
Ricky came out of the studio and all the employee's were asked to stand in line inorder to get a pic taken with Ricky. It seemed that the janitor of the radio building was a big Ricky fan and while I was standing in the hallway, she said to me that she did not bring a camera. I told her that she could use mine and I would give her a copy of my pics. So, it looked like I was back in line for another Ricky pic. Dave said, "Sandy, you have to stand back there!" I told him that I was allowing Leslie, the janitor use my camera to take the following pic. He said, "OK!"

We all moved slowly out into the lobby. Leslie caught up with Ricky and finally had the nerve to give him the banana nut cupcakes that she made and asked for his autograph.
Leslie said that Ricky could have her Tupperware. I said that Ricky could eat those cupcakes on his hour and 45 minutes drive to his next interview in Cinncinati. There is also a head shot of Veikko and Tracey in this pic.
Everyone moved into the lobby and I yelled, "Buena Suerta!" to Ricky.
Ricky was stopped to take one last pic with an employee.
There I stood, looking at Ricky walk out the door. I went back into the studio to ask for an audio tape of the interview since I never heard my voice on the radio and an intern took my name and number and she said that she would call me about the audio tape but she never did.
I then went out into the stairwell and the two winners were still standing there talking. They told me that I missed seeing Ricky's tidy whites/underwear when he bent over to get into the SUV. I am sorry that I missed that but I think that I did pretty good for someone who didn't even win the contest.
I really worked it that day to get nerve enough to say the things I said to Ricky. I was really polite and I am glad that I did not wear a wedding dress(my screen name before I met Ricky was MrsEJMM) Now, I am Sandi Dior. I don't think Ricky will ever get married. He is like me (never been married but we are having the time of our lives.)
I keep this saying on my board: Life is not measured by the number of breaths we take, but by the moments that take our breath away. I consider my meeting with Ricky to be one of those moments.

I really got a great deal. Even when I read the other posts from the ladies who where at the radio station, didn't get what I got!

2 Autograhs(everyone else got one)
14 pics ( I have not seen any pics that a fan took at a meet and greet with Ricky at any of the radio stations!)

You can see in some of the pics that Ricky has a Starbucks paper cup of coffee next to him. Well, I brought a bottle of Starbucks with me to drink if I became nervous and needed a drink.
I pulled my bottle of Starbucks out off my purse and put it on the counter just like Ricky had his.
Both of the DJs had cans of soda pop that they were drinking.
I settled in like it was going to be a party and Ricky's smile proves that I did liven up the place.
Someone told me on TSARM that they should have me at more Ricky gatherings. Hey! I am all for that!
