Guide to the Plane of Hate
This is for all of you guys who are new to PoH. It's an easy place to do, as long as you 1) have a map printed out, 2) listen to the raid leaders, and 3) follow directions. We're all smart here, so you shouldn't feel threatened or worried about PoH at all. Here's a few guidelines that really help to make a good PoH raid.
--Show up on time, or earlier, if better. The raid leaders go through a lot of stress when people don't show up, or come an hour later and still expect to get in on the raid. Do what you have to do - get some food in your fridge the night before, and get up early enough to get what you need to get done, done.
--Do not bug the raid leader constantly with tons of tells. The raid leader, more than likely, will be in tell hell throughout the raid. Try asking someone else who is experienced in the raid, if they can answer your question. Use your chain of command - perhaps ask your group leader to ask the raid leader. Also, if you don't get a tell back, don't worry about it - this can happen. Of course, I think Talula will be more than accomodating to everyone who sends her a tell, but we don't want to stress her too much.
--If at all possible, print out this map. It is one of the best PoH maps out there and will help you immensely. Just realize that when you zone in, you will turn around 180 degrees and head to the right. The blue path is the way to the safe spot. When you run to the safe spot, get up high on the wall, but not so high as to where your head is bumping the ceiling. People have run through the roof before, and it's really hard to get you back down. The yellow dot is a place to check your aggro - as soon as you zone in, hit escape to make sure you have nothing targeted. If something has aggroed on you, it will appear in your targeting - get a /loc and stand and die. A rogue/monk will pull your corpse and you will get a rezz. The green box is the safe spot, the orange area is the acceptable fighting area. The safe spot is named thus because it is not cool to bring a mob to that area, unless you are a monk and pulling. Again, if you get aggroed, get a loc, and stand and die. The red/pink line is the way to the throne room. Once we clear out a good deal of the area, we will move here.
--Do not ask or tell the monks what to pull. Pulling is a painstaking progress, and we get what the monks bring to us.
--Bring enough food and water to last you through the raid, both in game and real life. Announce when you go AFK, and try to hustle back.
--Casters, please stay on the wall if at all possible. This will be a crowded raid, and with everyone on the floor, meleeing will be impossible.
--I am assuming either Zyce or Bassor will be the main tank. ONLY use assist to attack, and only after they shout, "I have the target, assist me," or the like. Set your hotkeys when Talula announces who the main tanks are. Also, pay attention to shouts, if they change targets. And stay behind the main tank while we are pulling. Sometimes we get a bad pull - we just have to let the mobs go back and try again. Additionally, if you hear, "BACK UP", do it, and with haste.
--Do your best to stay the whole raid, even if the mobs that drop your items are already pulled. Typically, the bulk of the revenants, which drop mage or enchanter armor based on gender, are pulled in the last of the raid. Enchanters work their arses off up there, about as much, if not more, than the main tanks, the monks, and the raid leaders. Let's reward them by staying the whole raid, if at all possible.
--When we start fighting, turn off PC names, others hits, bard songs, PC spells, and particle density. This will help reduce lag and LDs.
--Group leaders are the ones who announce AFKs/LDs and what armor drops. Since most everything in PoH is no drop, group leaders check the corpses of the mobs their group kills. They call out what dropped, and the raid leader decides who gets the item.
--When we are at the safe spot, there will be a cleric south of us, behind him will be a kiraikuei. They will respawn fairly quickly. If you stay in the fighting area, these guys won't be a problem. They very rarely drop items (like a 1/5000 chance).
Here is a rundown of the mobs we will see in PoH. Typically they range in level from 48 to 52 or so, with the Maestro and Innoruuk being much higher and tougher.
Abhorrents - Abhorrents look just like gargoyles in Lower Guk and Mistmoore. They are based on rogues, so they have backstab. They have extremely low magic resistance, so they are usually the last mobs to be attacked in a multiple pull. They do not see through regular invis. They drop Woven Shadow armor, rogue only.
Spite Golems - Spite Golems look like walking masses of sludge, much like the guardians wandering around Nektulos Forest. They are shaman based and have Tagar's, SoW, and Alacrity. These guys are the toughest regular mobs in PoH. They have extremely high magic resist, so they can only rarely be mezzed. They have a ton of hitpoints, and this is compounded by the fact that they resist most spells (I hear they resist Lure quite well too), besides disease and poison-based spells. They do not see through regular invis. The drop Rune Etched armor, shaman only, and Runewood Shields, druid only.
Scorn Banshee- Scorn Banshees are warrior-based and look like female zombies - the ones you saw in Unrest and South Ro. They are undead, so they see through regular invis and are vulnerable to anti-undead spells. They drop Imbrued Armor, bard only, and Martune Rapiers, bard only rapiers (8/23 with some stat buffs). Martune Rapiers are also parts of the rogue epic quest.
Forsaken Revenants - Forsaken Revenants, or revs for short, look like the vampires from Mistmoore. Males are mages, while females are non-charming enchanters. These guys are fairly hard to mesmerize. Males drop Apothic armor, mage only, while females drop Insidious armor, enchanter only. They are undead.
Clerics of Innoruuk - Clerics of Innoruuk are clerical-based mobs that look like Teir`Dal guards. They do have Complete Heal, so stun and bash are very useful on these guys. They drop Ethereal Mist armor, cleric only, and Prismatic Shields, also cleric only.
Kiraikueis - KKs are monk-based mummy-looking creatures. Nothing really special about them, they can hit you with Strong Disease, which is more annoying than anything. They are undead. They drop Indicolite armor, warrior only.
Ire Ghasts - Ghasts look like ghouls and are shadowknights with quickly-refreshing harm touches. Again, they are undead mobs. They drop a variety of paladin items, including a Theologian Claymore (2hs), Darkmetal Holy Water Sprinkler (1hb), and True Heart Shield.
Revultant Rats - Rats are warrior-based mobs. They have deadly poison, which should be cured as soon as all the mobs in the area are dead, or if you're at 1 bubble of health or less. They drop Revultant Whips, ranger-only whips with extremely low-delay; thus, they are very coveted.
Ashenbone Drakes - Drakes are necromancer-based, undead skeletal dragons. You MUST be in melee range to cast on these, and they are particulary vulnerable to anti-undead and fire-based spells. They drop a few shadowknight items, including an Ashenbone Axe, Abassi, and Shield.
Loathing Liches - Liches are warrior-based spectre-looking mobs. They drop a fairly weak necro wand. They are undead.
Haunted Chests - Chests look like (surprise) moving treasure chests. They are fairly magic resistant. The biggest problem with these guys is that they dispell like crazy. Everyone, stun the hell out of them. They can drop a piece of armor from either PoH or PoF; contrary to what you may have read/heard, they do not drop any piece. For instance, if a chest drops any Valorium, they will be Valorium Greaves; if a chest drops any Indicolite, they will be Indicolite Boots, etc.
Maestro of Rancor - The Maestro is based on what Mayong Mistmoore looked like - basically one ugly bastard with a red cape. He is a bard, and he has an annoying area of effect lifetap that radiates out from him. He has a few nice drops, mostly for monks and bards. He hits hard and fast.
Innoruuk - What can I say? He's the Lord of Hate, and one ugly chump. He will death touch anyone within aggro range, and will continue to DT every 30 seconds. He has Gravity Flux, so you will want to fight him with your back to a wall. He can quad hit for 400. He of course has some very nice drops, my favorite being the Sunderfury, but anyway.
So there you go. Print this and the map out, listen to directions, and bring some food/drinks you can consume while playing, and you are golden. Pardon me if you are already experienced in Hate, this is mostly for the rookies.
Most importantly, taken from the words of the mighty Shenjairo - Have fun up there.
Sometimes you're nothing but meat...
