Game Twenty-One - 05/15/05
Cleo was outside waiting for the mages to show up when she saw appear out of nowhere, where one wasn’t before.
Out of the car came an Asian woman dressed in robes.
She approached Cleo and nodded is if to get a reaction, which Cleo responded, “Yes?” The woman then asked if she was the Cleo St, Sebastian, which Cleo replied, “Yes how can I help you?”
“I am Lin, sister mage to Patricia, whom you talked with before.” “You’ve asked for our services in cleansing the node…” Cleo agreed and asked where the others were and Lin motioned towards the vehicle and out came four others. Lin then began walking away from Cleo prompting her to ask where she was going. “To the node, of course.” Cleo responded, “By foot?” “Do you have some other mode of travelling that you would prefer?” Cleo told her that others would be joining them and they needed to wait for them to appear. Lin complied.
Soon after, Jacob appeared with Jeremiah and Samantina and told Cleo that he would be getting the bus so that they could all travel together. Lin’s reply, “How quaint.” Jacob looked at Lin with his head cocked and puzzled. Cleo introduced Lin as one of the mages and that the others were over next to the car that she pointed to. Jacob then went to get the bus. Moments later he arrived in one of the transports that the group used to haul club-goers to and back from the club in Bricktown. Everyone piled in and situated themselves for the journey that lay before them.
After some time, the bus arrived at the wooded area near the future site of Cleo’s chantry. Everyone exited and started walking towards the intended area. Cleo noticed one of the mages, Brusette pulled out a stone and it began to radiate with energy. Cleo asked what she was doing and Patricia replied that she was locating the node. “Over here sisters!” Cleo rolled her eyes as she thought to herself that all she has to do was activate her locater ring, but she already knew where the node was as Jacob had told her that it was below the area where the tower once stood.
Jacob had concerns as he was concerned about being followed and attacked from behind. Just then, Medina pulled out a bowl of sand and run it between her fingers. Cleo again asked Patricia what was happening, and she stated that Medina was create a force barrier, preventing unwanted guests from entry to the area. The group then moved forward to the entranceway of the old Sabbat battle grounds.
Cleo told Patricia about the malevolent forces that played with Jacob’s and her minds upon their last visit. Patricia acted concerned and wondered if they should be taking this path when Samantina replied that she knew of a secret passageway nearby. Cleo and Jacob looked at each other with amusement as Cleo expressed that she knew to inviting Samantina along on this adventure was going to be a smart idea.
Samantina moved towards one of the older trees in the area and put her hand inside, which activated a locking mechanism and the tree opened, revealing stairs that descended down to the passageways below. Upon entering Cleo noticed how cramped the space was as only two could go in at one time. Jacob turned on his flashlight and let it shine to the hallway before them. Cleo could see several rooms and tunnels. Samantina moved forward and showed the group the direction to the tower.
Eventually they made it to the end of the tunnel where they saw a ladder leading back to the surface, right outside of where James was spiked.
Cleo wondered how they were going to get to the node since the tunnel didn’t have access to that area. Patricia activated her magic through her statue and suddenly the opening they just exited connected to the intended area instead of leading straight back to the tunnels they just came from. Cleo thought there seemed to be no ends to the magic of these mages and they could unfortunately make formidable enemies if they were inclined to attack one day. The mages headed down the hole and Marcie and Cleo followed as Jacob followed while Samantina and Jeremiah stayed up top.
As the group moved into the underground chamber, Jacob recognized it as Phelon’s torture chamber where Jacob was held as his prisoner. Cleo saw many human remains strewn upon the floor before her. Marcie, being less experienced in this, was sickened by all the carnage.
Cleo then activated her locater ring which instantly crackled with energy and directed a path of power towards the floor below the center of the room.
The sisters began to cleanse the node, which resonated throughout the room. Cleo told Marcie to obfuscate as Cleo put on her shades as the room was washed with the light of the raw energy that poured forth from the sisters. After some time, Patricia stopped and said that the taint was too strong and that they would have to get closer to the node rather than having the floor obstructing their magic’s impact on the force below.
Patricia stated that they must expose the node to heal it where Jacob replied that he knew of a hidden entrance underneath Phelan’s throne. He looked at the sisters and they nodded signalling their approval, then Jacob moved the throne as tentacles poured out from below. The sisters immediately activated their powers to combat the tainted evil that seemed strong with a hold over the Manassas node. One tentacle reached out and pierced through Medina in her midsection and instantly killed her. Unnoticed by the others, another tentacle caught Ahmetue off guard and speared her sending her to a sad and silent death.
Jacob and Cleo went to check on the others above when they saw they were engaged in battle with two Garou. Cleo activated her shield immediately as if instinctual.
One of the must have been a mage as Cleo saw that he was howling what seemed like incantations while following a circular pattern. Jacob saw that the other was ready to strike at Samantina and leapt to her defense, attacking the beast with his weapon. Cleo noticed, as did Jacob, purple welts on the creature’s back that seemed to ooze puss. Cleo had never seen these growths before. Suddenly the Garou mage turned and looked at Cleo as if she was a threat and held within his hand his staff that glowed with power and soon after everyone, except Cleo, was writhing in pain. Jacob was able to maintain his strength, but barely.
Jacob picked the beast up and threw him into a tree on the far side while Cleo chose a different tactic and threw force projectiles at the mage propelling it into the temple from whence it came.
The others seemed to be free of their pain.
Jacob’s beast got upon his feet and charged him but Jacob was able to land him into one of the temple’s pillars, knocking it onto him.
Jacob eventually approached the best and told it that if it fled and never returned, he would do it no harm, Cleo was aghast that Jacob would set this beast free and headed towards the temple with Jeremiah and Samantina.
Upon entering they saw the mage on laying on the floor. Cleo motioned for Samantina as the creature began to stir, and told her to take care of that. Samantina conjured up her control of shadows and formed from them a sword of darkness that came down upon the garou and tore its head from its body. Cleo couldn’t allow it to run free as surely it would be a threat once again someday. Cleo picked up the staff and the skull adorned on the top glared its eyes and Cleo saw a worm leering in her mind as she dropped the staff. What magic was this she thought to herself.
Jacob entered the temple and Cleo told him that she didn’t appreciate him letting the garou free as it could one day attack her as this was the future site of her chantry. Jacob responded with a disdainful look that set Cleo wondering what has changed Jacob as he seems to be becoming more and more humane but is also more prone to violent temper tantrums.
The group headed out to return to the chamber below.
Cleo entered with Jacob and saw Medina was killed and Brusette was attacked leaving only Lin and Patricia as Ahmetue could not be seen. Cleo looked around and could not see Marcie. She cried out and Marcie reappeared and seemed unharmed. Lin had seen her reappear and it turned her hair white.
Brusette pulled from her robe a stone and punched her fist at the creature and made it fall back in pain. Lin then broke her statue and threw it on the ground. The creature screamed and Jacob ran over to the throne and shoved it onto the creature which let out one last dying scream and died.
Jacob walked up to Patricia and asked if there was anything he could do for Brusette and she coldly replied that he was not to touch her. Lin and Patricia locked hands with Brusette and began to heal her. Patricia told the others that they must leave while they sterilize the area of its last remaining taint and corruption and that they would perish from the energies used to do this. They agreed and went back up.
Jacob verbally attacked Marcie as he was annoyed that she hid and did nothing to help the mages in the battle. Cleo chimed in and told him to leave her be as she did what she was instructed to do. They headed to the temple and went inside. At first Cleo thought they should destroy it but maybe, just maybe it might be important and too powerful.
Both Cleo and Marcie checked the room for sigils and magic. Marcie saw a hidden passageway in the far wall and told Cleo and Jacob. Jacob tore open the panel and expose a square opening, big enough for someone to enter. Samantina pulled forth the shadows and went towards the entranceway and moved down below. Jacob once again focused on the newly discovered passageway. He then told everyone he would check it out and if he didn’t return, for the group to get the mages and leave.
Jacob made his was down the shaft.
Moments later, everyone heard her scream and Samantina appeared on the floor inside the temple. Cleo decided to send a message attached to a bone that Samantina was up above with group and sent it down the passageway.
Jeremiah went to help Samantina, but Jacob reappeared and pushed Jeremiah out of the way and both were fierce and powerful with their anger. Cleo and Marcie left the temple until they had calmed down. Cleo wondered why Jacob did this and he replied he thought he was trying to hurt her. Jeremiah told him to back off as he had neither the authority or the right to take charge as he was the sheriff, not Jacob. Cleo asked Jacob what he saw down below and he stated that almost a mile below was an area that had two huge doors with a triangular lock. Cleo pulled out the amulet that Sonja gave her and asked, “Like this?” Jacob nodded in agreement.
The group headed back to the mages and Patricia appeared and told Cleo everything was finished except for making a key for her to enter the node area below. Cleo gave her her sunglasses and she energized it with magic and said it was now a key to portal back in. Cleo gave her a coin and asked for another.
Patricia asked about their payment and Cleo motioned that it was OK for them to draw energy from the node. They did and seemed to orgasmically be energized by the experience. They then gathered their items and left with the others to the bus and Patricia deactivated the field. Cleo asked Jacob to seal the doors to the temple before they left and he did. Then returned to drive them back to Bricktown. The mages left into the ether as the group travelled back home .…
