Game Twenty-Four: 06/13/05
The next night, Cleo called Patricia and informed her that the node creature was not destroyed as they had previously thought. Patricia told her she had heard about instances where node creatures survived by inhabiting the corpses of the recently deceased. She told her that the body of Marcie would rapidly decay and that it would be seeking out a way to get back to the node before its host body disintegrated.

When they arrived at the chantry, Marcie reworked the gateway to the chantry then Cleo supplied her with a stack of coins to imbue them to allow entry to the portal so that the user could enter inside. Cleo had her modify the inside of the chantry to display three separate rooms. One, was a great circular, entrance hallway, surrounded by a libraries of books. The other two rooms were a study and lab.

Afterwards, she led her to the temple. Patricia was flabbergasted at what she saw before her. She sensed great power within and told Cleo that it was very old and very powerful. Someone could do just about anything from this temple.

Nikolai and Jacob soon arrived at the temple, which startled Cleo. Nikolai gave Patricia a bemused look and asked Cleo what she was doing here. She said that she wanted to find out from Patricia if she knew what it was. Nikolai suggested that it would be best if Patricia returned to where she came from, and suddenly she started to leave, mumbling something about returning home.

Regency Meeting
Cleo prepared for the regency meeting in Alexandria. She teleported to Vittorio’s, where the meeting was to be held. When she arrived, she was greeted by an individual who inquired if she needed any help. Cleo responded that she was there to meet Emperor Vittorio Ghiribaldi. The man seemed unsure of whom she meant. She stated that she was Miss St. Sebastian which seemed to alert the man who then directed her to another office.

Cleo entered and waited and was eventually greeted by Vittorio. He was finishing his preparations for the regency meeting. He then escorted her to the main meeting room. When she entered, she noticed that the floor was decked with star patterns that resembled the night sky. She could also see that the central circle was sectioned off into seven individual areas with a central circular platform in its middle.

Several others entered the room.

Shamus, the Ruddy, Simone Laurentis, Alexi Petrunich and Peter Dorfman.

Lord Cairns arrived with two other Tremere that Cleo was unable to recognize.

Later, an unfamiliar Tremere entered the room, a hispanic man, with very distinct features.

As everyone proceeded towards their seats, Cleo stationed herself near Vittorio. It seemed appropriate as she seemed to be his assistant when it came to helping him advance up the Tremere ladder.

First order of business, was deciding if ex-Prince Elaine should receive lordship over the Virginias. Meerlinda appeared in the center column and presided over the group decision which chose to allow Elaine advancement to her new title. Both Meerlinda and Elaine left abruptly.

Lord Cairns then dismissed himself and vacated the chamber with his eager followers as to show a total disregard for Vittorio’s position. Cairns had wanted to be emperor himself and was furious that he had blackmailed him into backing down from the position.

Alexi, Shamus, Simone, Jorge, Vittorio and Cleo were the only ones remaining in the chamber. They debated about where the Tremere stood in regards to other clans. Cleo stated that she had been working for a long time to try and ingratiate herself to various key members of these clans.

Alexi disagreed with her methods. Cleo replied that the typical Tremere way of handling business was outdated and that they should try a more diplomatic approach rather than relying on force and intimidation to ensure their upper hand in the Camarilla.

The meeting soon ended and Cleo headed over to Shamus, who told her that he had been transferred to the front line in Maryland at the outskirts of Sabbat territory. Cleo asked Vittorio why he did this and he stated that Shamus was going to have to prove himself — that this would be an excellent way for him to do so. She felt Vittorio lacked any concern for others. This bothered her as she doubted she could ever fully trust him.

She returned to her chantry then met up with Nikolai at the temple, where both decided to descend down to the lower levels. Cleo was able to understand the sigils that adorned the walls on the way down and was able to manipulate the space/time. Almost instantly they were at the bottom of the shaft. She was able to make the sigils shorten the distance and wondered if she could do the opposite if need be.

While down in the tunnel, she could see the remains of an entity, who they later found out to be one of the unfortunate Malkevians that was captured with Joan. Cleo tried to access the intricate lock but to no avail. Finally, it was Jacob that eventually succeeded.

They entered to the inner sanctum where they could see many spheres with a dais in the center that looked like an operating podium.

Cleo touched the dials on the podium and could see what had happened when it was previously activated. Cleo was frightened by what she saw. She saw herself leading Joan, Hiralt, Hirut and her demon lover to a place within the past.

Suddenly, the portal activated and Joan reappeared with both of her eyes missing. She seemed weakened by her experience and was rambling on about Hirut and how she went back in the past to meet herself in the great city.

She collapsed.

Jacob was furious at what Hirut had done to her and swore that she would pay dearly for her crimes, Cleo agreed, though they needed to devise a plan on how to take down this vile creature and to seek out others to help make this scheme a reality.

Everyone left to get Joan to safety. She would stay at Nikolai’s house in Bricktown. Cleo returned to her apartment and called Vittorio to tell him of what she had seen.

Now the cat was out of the bag…
