Game Twenty - 05/08/05
Cleo opened her front door and standing on the other side was Taggert. Cleo asked him to wait a moment and quickly closed the door to her apartment before he could glimpse some of the damage caused by the power struggle that happened moments before that ended with the death of Katrina.
Cleo called everyone forth and explained to them that Katrina was out for revenge and was going to attack everyone that was dear to her and she couldn’t let that happen, therefore she met her sad, unfortunate death. Most were still startled but Cleo was able to talk everyone down. She gave everyone tasks that would help clean up the mess. She also gave the axe to Nabihah to analyze the blood from Katrina.
As everyone ventured off, she opened the front door and walked out to Taggerts welcoming arms. He expressed concern over Cleo’s appearance as she seemed depleted of her usual beauty and looked tired. Cleo brushed off his questions by stating she had been pushing herself too hard lately and what with happened recently with the Baron in Manassas, would be expected.
Just then Cleo was beckoned by a familiar voice over from what once was Katrina’s apartment. It was Nebasha’s new child, Melinda. Cleo asked what she wanted and Margaret opened her hand and revealed another pearl inside. Cleo appreciated the offer but refused. Melinda began to guilt Cleo into taking the pearl as she said that Nebasha was mostly responsible in her rise to power so quickly and that she shouldn’t refuse a gift as she should feel obligated to take it. Once again Melinda held out her open hand, but this time Cleo closed her hand and stated that she should leave as she was not welcome in Manassas and Nebasha’s services would no longer be required.
Melinda told Cleo that she would regret this decision and snaked away into Katrina’s house. How odd she thought and immediately asked Melinda how she was allowed there before she vanished into the shadows. Melinda replied that they had made a deal with the Nosferatu for the use of the tunnels and house. Cleo didn’t like the sound of that, both the Nos and Setites were quickly becoming enemies to those of the vampires in Manassas.
Taggert asked her if she needed any help but Cleo stated she had everything taken care of and moved towards the car where she would accompany him while they drove around and discussed the reason for him being here, business opportunities. Cleo got in and they drove around the Bricktown area while presented a brief of the plans that they had for doing business with him and to invite any ideas that he had for the surrounding area. One of the first was an idea for a telecommunications business as he had problems getting a signal on his cell phone out here. Cleo agreed with his frustration.
They both headed back to the Elysium where Cleo showed Taggert to his room, the master guest suite at Elysium. Cleo helped him with the unpacking and shared a brief intimate moment before notifying him that she needed to tend to a few things and then would gather everyone for an official meeting to discuss their plans for the future of the Bricktown area.
Cleo headed back to her temporary chantry at her apartment in Bricktown. She asked Margaret how the clean-up was coming along and Margaret showed her the progress. She asked her where Nabihah was and she motioned towards the lab. Cleo then headed in that direction, when she ran into Marcie. Cleo asked her to get items ready for the next night as they would meet up with the Daughters of the Moon then to try and cleanse the node. Marcie agreed and Cleo stated that she wanted her to wear the obfuscate medallion as she didn’t fully trust the coven of mages and didn’t want anything bad to happen to her while she was there.
Cleo once again made her way to the lab in the basement and asked Nabihah about the tests that she ran on Katrina’s blood. Nabihah noted the usual differences between human blood and vampiric vitae. Not really didn’t help Cleo with what she wanted to know. Cleo asked Nabihah to help Margaret upstairs so she could test the blood alone. And after she left, she did just that. Waves of memories and vitae information passed through her brain and she was able to piece together her lineage and powers. “What a sad life this beast led,” she thought to herself. Cleo then made her way back upstairs and told Margaret that she had an important meeting to attend as Seneschel of the city. She told her that she was appreciative of all the help that she had been to the daily operations of life within the apartment walls.
Cleo then received a call from Jacob that said he found Reggie, who found both Alex and Samantina in battle with one another in a Civil War cemetery nearby. He asked her if she could arrange for some transport and Cleo then called Adam and had him drive one of the buses to the location where they were. After some time they arrived back to Bricktown and Jacob told Cleo that he had Samantina housed in his apartment. Cleo expressed interest in meeting with her as they shared a similar history, namely both being Lasombra. Jacob was very hesitant as he thought this might frighten Samantina and didn’t want her to flee like she did before. Cleo agreed for now. Cleo and Jacob then left to head over to Elysium to gather everyone for the big meeting to discuss their business plans.
Eventually most made their way to the meeting room of Elysium and gathered to start making plans and decisions about the future of Bricktown and how they could make it successful.
During the meeting, it was obvious that there was some tension between Taggert and Jeremiah, but never interfered with the meeting. Taggert expressed his concerns about setting up the businesses and not getting enough of a percentage of the profit. His interests were purely financial. Jacob made it clear that Vencore was not allowed anywhere near Manassas as Nikolai would not allow it. Taggert agreed. After some time, it seemed as if the whole thing wasn’t really going to happen, when Jacob stated that Taggert would also be appointed Baron of the area if he accepted the deal. Cleo was shocked as it really wasn’t Jacob’s place to offer him this, but she kept quiet just the same. This seemed to be the winning card played as Taggert agreed to the deal, but stated that there would have to be a lot of details to iron out and a lot paperwork to do before he could present it to Nadia and Nikolai. Jacob offered Ryan’s help as this would be a good opportunity for him with his career plans in business management.
Cleo left taggert and Ryan to their paperwork and told Jacob that they should get ready to meet with the mages. Jacob, Jeremiah, and Marcie and Cleo along with the mages would venture over to what was the old Sabbat training grounds to heal the node and deal with what was in the temple. Cleo asked Jacob once again to meet with Samantina, this time he agreed.
Jacob and Cleo made their way to his place and he had her stay outside until he was ready for her to enter. He soon motioned for Cleo to come in and she saw before her, Samantina, once proud Sabbat warrior and paladin to Phelan. Cleo asked her about her Lasombra background and noticed hesitancy.
Cleo then decided to reveal her abilities she learned as a Lasombra ghoul. Samantina was startled, but Cleo told her not to worry as she wasn’t Sabbat and both her and Jacob were trying to build something better than the Sabbat or Camarilla, something that could give all vampires a form of democracy. Samantina wasn’t interested in politics and felt lost as she no longer had a purpose. Cleo asked if she would be interested in being a guide on the mission to the old Sabbat training ground and much to both Jacob and Cleo’s surprise, she agreed. Cleo thought with the team that she had gathered, surely, things were well in hand…
