Journey to the Red Star
Cleo and Oras escaped in the temple along with Marcus and Hirut’s family. Cleo noticed that they had left the normal plane of existence and had entered another. She had heard talk of these from other Tremere, but had never seen them firsthand. Outside, she could see a vastness of space and in the distance, a giant red star system. She wondered how vampires would react to the rays from a red sun. Would they be lethal?
Oras asked Cleo if she left the door open as he noticed it was ajar. She told him Marcus was the last in. They both went over to see if everyone was there. She could see Hirut and her family cowering in the corner, obviously frightened by their adventure into the astral planes. Oras and Cleo noticed that Ariel, the salubri, was missing and had quickly surmised that she escaped into astralspace, or destroed by the force of the interstitial reflex barrier.
They closed the door and returned to the operating dais in the centralized power room.
The temple was under attack by an unknown and alien ship. It was fast approaching them and would soon be at their doorstep.
Oras activated the temple’s obfuscation controls which seemed to have no effect as the assailant was still advancing upon them.
Cleo asked Oras if his temple was arranged the same way as the larger one created by Mehket. He said he wasn’t familiar with the one they arrived in.
Recollecting what Vittorio told her about the temple being an amplifier for the pilot’s powers Cleo took a chance by operating the controls the same way she had with the other temple. She could feel the blood drawing from her body as she called upon her path of force to conjure a force barrier between them and the attacking ship.
Cleo saw the octopoid using its tentacles to pierce her handmade shield but it did nothing to deter it from its curiosity of what lay within. She knew it was a stalemate and she would soon have to relent with projecting her barrier. As she did, it released its tentacles and swallowed the temple which now rested inside the belly of this beast.
Several armed insectoid creatures were now advancing towards the temple.
Cleo called for Marcus, who was once again bewildered by what was before him. In many ways he was but a child to Cleo, but in reality was much more powerful as he was several generations older than she. She asked him if he would be able to use his time-manipulation powers through the temple’s magnifying system. He doubted they would work but Cleo was not satisfied. She drew upon her experience as a mentor to her ghouls and soon had him performing his task. He headed to the dais and placed his hand upon the amplifying apparatus. Everything outside immediately stopped.
Unfortunately, this impeded their progress towards the red star, which left them in a holding pattern rather than escaping from their assailant.
Cleo had the group pool their knowledge to to come up with an escape plan without harming the humans on the vessel.
After a frustrating outcome, Cleo relied once again on her path of force, but this time utilizing her abilities with force projection rather than creating a shield around the temple. She directed it upwards so as to tear through the octopoid’s body. After doing so, they were suddenly thrust into astralspace and once again they were making their way towards the red star.

First Contact
The temple arrived at the destination, but not without a lot of difficulty. It had incurred damage from the acidic matter that had been expectorated all over its outer shell and after close inspection, was gradually eroding away the outer casing.
Cleo once again utilized her path of force to create a shield around the temple and then expanded it to project the acid away from the ship. She was successful and it landed upon the ground, burrowing into this alien terrain.
She asked Oras for some vitae as she was running low and thought it only a matter of borrowing from his personal storage unit—his body. He agreed and she took six units of vitae. She was soon up to full strength and now felt she had acquired his increased dodge abilities and upped her understanding of Auspex to the next level of understanding.

Oras had assessed the damage and asked if Marcus and Cleo would be able to find replacement items for the damaged parts. He told them that there was a city about a mile or so where the indigenous life would be able to supply them with what they needed. Cleo agreed and started to leave with Marcus. She then remembered that she couldn’t trust Oras, so she advanced to the dais and confiscated the dematerialization sequencer.
Once outside, Cleo looked up at the Earth with its moons circling around it. Moons? This intrigued Cleo as she wondered what other wildly alien concepts she would encounter.
After progressing towards the mountain, Cleo noticed a set of stairs leading to the underground. She wondered what was below, but promised herself that she wouldn’t be deterred from her main objective—the replacement parts for the temple.
She heightened her senses to see if she could pick up any indications of human life up ahead. Instead, she heard something more frightening. Sonic warbling, almost sentient in nature. It was emanating from the mountain up ahead and grew stronger as they approached their destination.
Almost immediately the sounds grew in intensity as she could see flying bat-like creatures sailing out from an opening at the top of the mountain. they were making their way towards her and Marcus and would soon be upon them. Cleo told Marcus to run towards the mountain quickly as they were in danger.
They were surrounded by the flying beasts. Cleo once again activated a forceshield to protect them. This time she could feel the planet’s influence on her powers. Her shield was unwieldy and less predictable, coming close to being ineffective as one other creatures attacked and missed her face only by inches. She then activated her obtenebration and created an black sphere to encase one of them. This made it scream in terror as its sonic powers lost their effectiveness in the darkfield. As she moved the sphere, she could see the creature was disoriented and dazed. The group of beasts’ attention was focused on the stricken one which gave her and Marcus the chance to slip away.
As they made their way to the mountain, they could see a set of stairs that spiraled up the side of it, leading to the city that Oras had described. They ran down the crevice and worked their way to the village. Cleo could see that the city was surrounded by a gate which prevented them access inside. She turned to see the flying monstrosities making their was towards them. Hastily, she decided to pull out her ring of disintegration and used it on the gate, which soon eroded its matter, allowing them to enter inside.
When they arrived at the buildings they could see numerous alien corpses lying on the ground. Something had attacked the settlement.
Cleo turned her attention to the flying creatures and quickly looked for a place to find someone or some weapons to use against these vile atrocities of nature. They entered a temple but didn’t find anything of use and quickly made their way to the other large building, which seemed to be a forging unit for supplies. Cleo spotted the parts that they would need for repairing the temple, but they would be heavy and would slow them down, even with her ability to celeritize. Looking around, she noticed many talismans and acquired a few as she observed that they could be placed around the forging furnace within the room.
Unfortunately, she didn’t have the time to figure out how to activate it so they headed back to the temple just as the beasts assailed upon them.
She closed the door, then Marcus activated his powers to stop time on the door, then on the lock.
Cleo looked around and in her anger threw various objects on the ground, destroying some in the process. Papers with inscriptions fell to the ground and as she knelt to pick them up she could read that it was a demonic ritual for calling upon the light of the red star. She then picked up the bowl and its contents, a huge alien grub worm and proceeded to perform this demonic rite inscribed on the paper — hoping it wouldn’t kill them in the process.
As she read the last words on the parchments, she picked up the dagger and slit her arms, releasing her blood to activate the incantation. The result was the rays of the red star penetrated the area which sent the beasts into retreat but had no effect on her or Marcus.
Shortly after, Cleo could see a reddish humanoid approaching the temple just as she received a message from Oras wondering where the parts were.
When Cleo scanned the area upon arrival at the village, she saw that this approaching humanoid was the one that called upon the sonic entities to destroy this Ehmateen villages residents. Her concern was growing as she knew that they would probably have to flee once again as this being could be more of a threat than the beasts themselves. Cleo thought they would be were protected from the entity outside as the door was immovable, but what would prevent this creature from coming through the windows…
