Game Nineteen - 05/01/05
Cleo could hear the clawing and banging from the other side of the door. She knew it was Alexander, the Baron who was inching ever closer to the three that were in the cell area of the Elysium. Cleo looked back at Jacob who was tending to Ryan who had just been made a vampire. Cleo screamed to Jacob, “He’s coming, and it won’t be long before he’s through.” Jacob motioned for her to get behind him and told her to take care of Ryan while he dealt with the Baron. Ryan seemed frightened and disoriented, but Cleo was able to calm him down, at least for now.
Alexander sliced through the door as if it were made of butter and immediately entered the room, growling and bestial with raging blood red eyes. He sniffed around the room and stared at Jacob, then looked at Ryan and Cleo. He let out a howl then leapt towards Jacob, going for his throat. Jacob fought back with all his might and speed. Both seemed to be a match for each other, but luck was on Jacob’s side as Alexander slipped and dug his slaws into his own flesh, then let out another howl while writhing in pain. Jacob took advantage of the opportunity and picked the Baron up and threw him into a cell, making a large body-shaped impression in the rear wall, which knocked him unconscious.
Cleo got up and immediately set the controls to contain him within his cell until he could be reasoned with. Jacob then rushed over to Ryan and helped him to his feet. He asked if he was OK and Ryan admitted to being scared as everything was a bit much to deal with.
Cleo then called Nadia to inform her on what had just happened and she responded with disappointment that the group was continuously have problems managing the local area and not rising to the occasion. She told them to meet her over at the hospital, where Damian used to stay.
Cleo headed over to her place to check in on Marcie and her ghouls to make sure everything was in order there. Cleo told Marcie that her meeting with the mage had gone well, but that Vittorio did not show. Cleo told her about her meeting with Nadia and asked her to tag along. Marcie agreed. They left and met up with Jacob and Ryan and headed over to the hospital. When they arrived they noticed the chains that were wrapped around the doors and the fence that prevented intruders from admittance.
Cleo called up to Nadia, but didn’t get a response. Jacob asked if anyone wanted to climb the fence, but everyone gave the look, as if he was insane. Then he decided to pull up the fence for everyone to enter, which was much more to everyone’s approval. Jacob then decided to leap up onto the third floor to see if Nadia was there, while the others stayed below. After a few minutes, Jacob came downstairs with Nadia, who was covered in paint, in tow. She radioed to her construction workers and soon they arrived to bulldoze the building. “We must make sure that this information is destroyed so that it doesn’t get into the wrong hands.” She then asked the group to follow her back to her place.
When they arrived at Nikolai’s mansion down the street, Nadia entered a pass key and the door opened, which led them to small chamber where there was another lock, one that Nadia put her hand into a liquid substance, much like jello, and it recognized her. Cleo asked what new tech this was and she replied, “This is advanced technology that is far too expensive for now, but needless to say, works very well.”
They entered the main room and waited until Nadia came back. Cleo asked Marcie to observe the room and see if she noticed anything. In a short time Nadia reentered the room, wearing a sexy low-cut leather outfit. She had also spent the time coming up with a solution and told the others that she would meet with Alex alone, until she was ready to call them in to talk about what would happen. Nadia then headed over to the Elysium to talk with Alexander.
Cleo asked Jacob if they were hungry and needed to feed, they agreed as Jacob was eager to have Ryan learn about where to get blood and what the rules and regulations were for doing so.
They all got into a vehicle and headed towards the airport area. They arrived at the bar that Jeremiah had told them about and noticed it was closed. It was Sunday. They then decided to head to a trailer park nearby. It was populated by blue collar worker types all wanting to get drunk for the night. Needless to say, this where things get hazy for Cleo as all she remembers is getting drunk after sampling some of the blood from the local hicks and had to be rushed back home.
Upon arriving back at Bricktown, Cleo headed back with Marcie to their apartment where Marcie put her to bed for the night.
The next night Cleo spent some time recuperating and sampling some of her amulet’s powers with the assistance of Marcie they both headed to the attic and performed a Ritterwyrm ritual which revealed the history and power of the two amulets and ruby that Cleo had put forth.
Cleo then went to get ready for her meeting with Nadia. Cleo wanted to bring Margaret over to meet with Jacob as she knew the two would eventually have much to talk about, since Jacob thought himself an instrument of God and that she used to be a nun. Cleo asked her to accompany her and Margaret agreed. As they headed over to the club, Cleo met up with Jacob and Ryan and all noticed the “carnivale” theme outside the club. Cleo told Jacob that his club seemed to be taking off and was a big hit, at least if the profits had anything to do with it. They made their way up to the Elysium and everyone but Cleo waited in the waiting area until they were called in.
Cleo took the time to introduce Margaret to Jacob, with unspectacular results. Cleo shrugged it off and thought to herself she would try again later as she entered the Throne Room and saw Nadia sitting on the throne looking over several papers. After getting her attention she told Cleo to have everyone enter the room.
Jacob, Ryan, Jeremiah, Reggie, Louis and Cleo entered the room.
“Where is Katrina?” asked Nadia. Jacob and Cleo replied that she hadn’t been seen since the baron went into a rage. Nadia agreed and started the meeting. “I have talked with Alex and let him know that after some consideration, he is no longer Baron of Manassas. We feel he hasn’t met the requirements of his responsibilities and we think that we should appoint another to that position.” Everyone was shocked except for Cleo and Jacob as they both knew he wasn’t really up for the job.
“Furthermore, Cleo St. Sebastian shall remain as seneschal, as we do not have a problem with her performance, for the most part.” “We have decided that until we feel someone who is suited for the job as Baron we elect Reggie to be temporary Baron until that time.” “Does anyone have any questions?” Everyone seemed silent as they knew many in the room had been a disappointment in both Nadia and Nikolai’s eye. Nadia told them that Alexander was getting his things together and would be leaving soon. She then asked that the group try and make the best of the situation and not to give her a call unless it was an extreme emergency as she had other locations to tend with and this one was already eating up too much of her time. Then she left.
Jacob took this time to ask everyone in the room to help him with a special mission that was given to him by Joan to help smuggle several Malkevians. After some needed convincing, all agreed to help him.While everyone was talking about strategies and executions of the “Save the Malkevians” scenario, Cleo called Taggert and asked him if he would like to come and visit her as she missed him a lot and she had a couple of ideas of possible business opportunities to present to him. After some coaxing, he agreed to come tonight as he too had missed her.
When Cleo hung up the phone, she felt sick to her stomach. She could feel the addiction kicking in again. She could hear Nabasha’s voice telling her to come and visit and she would receive another pearl, which would make her beautiful again. She turned to Jacob and begged him to take her. He tried to talk her down, as he did before, but was not having any effect. Cleo looked into Jacob’s eyes with pity and he relented an agreed to take her to see Nabasha. Cleo’s focus narrowed as she closed her eyes and put her hand forward and stated that he shouldn’t take her after all as that would be the worst thing, perhaps?!
Cleo then turned around and could see a glimmer of a heavy foot that was familiar to her, Katrina’s and then heard her let out an evil laugh.
Cleo screamed to Jacob, “Katrina’s here and has heard everything!”
Jacob flared with rage and grabbed a pole and swung it in the air as to hit Katrina, then noticed that elevator would be the obvious choice of exit for her and slammed the door shut while crunching it into the wall. He screamed out that this was the last straw and that if she endangered the Malkevians, he would personally see to her demise. There was no response. Cleo thought that she had probably already left and it was to late. Just then Jacob noticed a hidden cover to the throne chair that revealed an entranceway to the sewers below. He immediately descended to the sewers and the others followed.
While down there the group saw the remnants of some of Katrina’s busywork. They found Patricia’s body strewn up and had a message carved into her flesh, “I repent, signed K.”Jacob and Cleo agreed that this mad dog had to be found as she was out of control and liability to the group. They then decided to head back up to the Elysium to get the proper things needed to search for her. Jacob went over to the elevator and unwedged the door from it’s surroundings. All piled in and headed down to the main area.
They game planned and decided to meet over at the hospital’s sewage entrance in a few minutes. Cleo raced back to her place with Margaret in tow. She arrived and called for Marcie. When Marcie arrived, Cleo stated that Katrina was on the loose and that she might be headed this way to exact revenge on the household. She asked Marcie to perform a security spell and Marcie asked Cleo to spend some her blood as it was a requirement of the spell. After finishing, Cleo told Marcie to not let her in unless she answered the question of what spell they performed earlier.
Cleo quickly left, slamming the door behind her and then made her way over to the hospital.
Upon arriving Cleo noticed Jacob parking the bus that was used to transport out-of-towners to the club. He busted open the gas tank and sprayed the sewer entrance with the flammable fuel and asked Cleo to set the fire when he gave the word. He then descended into the sewers to access the surrounding area.
After some time, he told Cleo to light it as he found the ashes of Corey and other evidence that she was up to no good. Cleo set the flame to the gas and it zoomed over to the descending rats and down the tunnel, causing a loud explosion. Jacob then made his way down various tunnels. Cleo called to find out where was down below and Jacob hit into some pipes which revealed his location as the man hole cover exploded up in the air down the street in the “crackhouse district.” Jeremiah,
Ryan and Cleo headed towards the area and descended into the sewers. Cleo noticed at the area where she had left a siggal, a spike mounted from the wall at about where Cleo’s heart was. She thought to herself that this was the last straw and she ripped the spike from the wall and held it in her fist as she proclaimed, “She will die by her own machinations!”
After meeting up with Jacob, they decided to split into two teams and went down two different passageways that eventually led back into each other. Before them stood a wall of jello-like spongy material that blocked their path.
Jacob asked if anyone knew what this was and got no reply. Then he went forward and walked through the substance. At first he seemed fine, but eventually the substance ate at his skin and dissolved his clothes.
On the other side, Cleo activated her force shield and plowed right through the sticky material, which sizzled and melted away from her projected shield. Eventually she ran into something that was being pushed forward. It was Jacob and she knocked him down to the next level. She saw the precipice before her and decided to jump and test the impact of her new power. She landed in more of the substance and melted her way down to the next level where she saw before her a metal door that looked like it was from the civil war era. Jacob was naked an badly burned when he opened the door.
Cleo could see ahead of her a waterway. She motioned to Jacob and he expressed dismay as all hope was lost as she was probably long gone by now. Just then, Lysander crawled up and beckoned at Cleo. Jacob ran up and slammed him into the floor. Both asked where Katrina was but he replied he didn’t know, but did say, “Master is coming. master Caius is almost here!”
All three made their way back up to the above level and saw that the other two had made it to the edge. Cleo thought to use her remembered ability as a Lasombra ghoul of using the shadows to appear more menacing to Lysander and make him reveal where Katrina was, but to no avail. Suddenly many rodents entered the tunnels and rushed past the group. The four ran back to the area where they entered and could hear the rats descending their way.
When they arrived the piled up on one another and formed into the shape of a body, that of Caius. Cleo was scared as Jacob pummeled into him. As they fought, Jacob told the group to leave as maybe this was his time to die and that they should save themselves. Jeremiah disagreed, but Jacob growled and told him not to argue. Jeremiah sped past Cleo as she held onto Ryan and told him to close his eyes as they transported to safety. Perhaps that would be the last time Cleo would see Jacob, she thought.
Both Cleo and Ryan ran back to her apartment and she knocked on the door. Marcie opened the door and let them in and slammed it shut. Cleo asked why she didn’t ask a question about the spell and Marcie sputtered, “Oh you mean the spell where we transformed Jacob into…” Cleo broke off and immediately knew Katrina was in the house. “Behind you!!!” Marcie yelled. Cleo turned around with all her rage and blasted with the power of the force into the wall behind her and then swept along until she hit into Katrina, who was pummeled into the wall.
She then pulled out the stake and stabbed Katrina in the heart, then yelled to Marcie “Bring me the axe, Marcie!”
Marcie hand her the axe and Cleo swung up and laid the axe at Katrina’s neck, then pulled back and swung again, this time severing her head from her body. When the corpse turned to dust, she could feel a portion of the pitiful life that Katrina must have led. As Cleo cried, she reached out for a reluctant Marcie who was shocked at what Cleo had just done. Just the the doorbell rang. Marcie opened the door and there was Taggert with rose in hand, “Cleo…”
