Bloodhunt
Cleo ventured off to the pool room with Lucas ‘Taylor’ to find Comet as they were ordered to do so as per the Prince’s edict to find him and Damien or their lives would be forfeit as would others who would not comply.
She noticed Comet splashing around in the pool, not even noticing that they were there.
Lucas asked Cleo if she could help him extract Comet from the water. Cleo responded that it was his test and that she could not help him but only observe him in his task as to be witness if any Sabbat were to question him.
Lucas tried to gracefully enter the pool but slipped and fell in, making a loud splashing noise in the process. This startled Comet who looked up at Cleo ad commanded her to protect him while he fled. She activated her telekinesis and levitated Lucas in the air above the water. This startled him as he had not had this happen to him before. Comet looked back before exiting the room and snarled and as he left, Cleo’s entrancement dissipated, thereby making her lose her concentration on her telekinetic powers. Lucas fell back into the pool.
Cleo reached over to the side of the pool and held out her hand as if to help Lucas out of the water, which he accepted. “Did you see what he did,” he asked? Cleo nodded and told him that he needed to find his prey once again before the others finished Comet off for him. Cleo started to leave the pool room, but decided to use her spirit’s touch upon the outer wall, which allowed her to see where Comet went off to. He had made his way to the men’s changing room and she relayed this information to Lucas, who once again readied for finding his prey.
They arrived at the men’s changing room and looked around. Cleo saw nothing that indicated that he was here, but she knew Malkevians where slippery creatures when they used their obfuscation.
Lucas decided to call upon his obtenebration to seek out his target that hid in the blackness. Cleo saw entities swirl around the room and appear before Lucas. They asked Lucas who he wanted found. “Was it the girl?” Cleo seem startled. “No, she is Monçada’s granddaughter and must not be harmed,” he commanded! “We know who she isss,” they replied. They scoured the room and finally circled around a cabinet and replied that Comet was hiding within.
They told him that they had done their dead for him and were to depart as it was his job to deal with the prey within.
Lucas sent the inky darkness around the cabinet ripping away at Comet inside as he screamed for pain.
Cleo was disturbed by Lucas’ actions. She had misjudged him. She thought that he didn’t have what it took to finally go through with it. She would have to tread carefully around this one as his lust for dark power rivaled that of Vittorio’s. At times Cleo felt that she herself was perilously close to falling for the same weakness of greed that so many had in her past. At times like this she reminded herself that great power wasn’t marked by how physically powerful one was, but by one’s knowledge and she had that in abundance. It was time to stop playing with the pawns and to start playing with rooks and bishops. It would soon be time to meet with grandfather. Would she have what it took to finish this once and for all?
Cleo returned to the throne room and saw that Nikolai was arguing with several other Broujahs. She approached and asked what was bothering him. He had been in conference with Joan and other officials and could not believe that Joan sided against him in the decision of the bloodhunt. She said that Joan had changed and that she wasn’t the same Malkevian that they once knew and for that matter, neither were many of the kindred in this room.
He agreed but told her that he had to make more official complaints as this was an outrage. Cleo knew there was nothing that she could do to help as she had been away for far too long and didn’t have the clout she once had when she was rising up the Tremere ladder during their reign over the city.
Pretty soon, Lucas returned looking victorious. So Comet was dead. He had his ashes within his palm as he made his way to the announcer who called out that one of the assailants had been destroyed. Several kindred muffled their true feelings of dismay as it was not them who would receive the boon. Cleo joined him as both were directed to enter the Prince’s chambers. Once in, they were directed to sit in the chairs directly in front of Pierce’s desk.
Prince De Lacroix entered the room with Primogen Roman Pollack going over papers which Pierce signed. “Ah, Cleo so nice to see you up and about again,” said Roman. Cleo made a quick statement about his ex-wife’s current situation where he replied that she was in his past and no longer entered his thoughts. Cleo couldn’t help but let out a giggle as she felt Sandra had received her ‘just desserts.’
The prince redirected the conversation to Lucas and asked him if he was holding Comet’s ashes. Lucas nodded to indicate it was so. Pierce then called for Phillip, the once Prince of D.C., who was a toreador. Phllip took the ashes and conjured up some mysterious powers and determined that the ashes did indeed belong to Comet. This surprised Cleo as she wondered what Toreador had an ability to cast magic like the Tremere? Odd.
The Prince offered a boon to Lucas who wa ready to decline his gift when Cleo chimed in that he didn’t know what he was refusing since he was knew to this kindred custom and that he surely would accept the boon as she would of course, accept hers. “Ohh, that sounded too desperate,” Cleo thought to herself. But maybe making herself sound needy might make her useful to other kindred who needed someone like her on their side. Perhaps.
The Prince gave each their boon and told Lucas to leave and for Cleo to stay for a moment.
The Prince asked Cleo if the Tremere might be interested in a trade of land the Landmark area for Falls Church. Cleo stated that she would have to confer with others in her clan but that that was already an unfair trade as the value of the land in Landmark wass surely worth more that Falls Church.
Pierce then drilled Cleo about her knowledge of Jordan’s death. She didn’t have to wonder where he heard that information from. Taggert had sold her out to the other Ventrue. So, he couldn’t be trusted. Maybe she should leave him to Ryan’s thrall, instead of finding a way to set him free. The Prince also asked her where she had been for so long. She stated that she was on a secret mission that she could not reveal and that many didn’t return. She then inquired why he had set the bloodhunt on Damien. He stated that he had broken the Masquerade for the last couple of months. Cleo replied that that would be impossible as Damien was with… She cut herself off before finishing her sentence. “With whom,” questioned Pierce? Cleo replied that she just knew he wasn’t here at the time. Pierce brushed her statement off and said that he had to return to business and motioned towards the door to indicate the way out.
Cleo got up and left. She returned to Shamus who looked lost within the large exiting crowd. The hunt had been called off as someone had seen Damien exiting the building then went into obfuscation. Lucas returned and pulled Cleo away from Shamus. She excused herself and returned to the changing rooms. Lucas needed a way to exit the building without being caught by the security cameras. He asked he if it was OK to obtenebrate into shadow then use her as a host to parasite himself into while she exited the Elysium. She agreed. Unfortunately, his first attempt startled Cleo who tried to repel him from her body. He was more successful on his second attempt and managed to get inside her form. Cleo felt bloated. Was this what that time of the month felt like? It had been so long, she couldn’t remember.
They exited and went to the garage and got into the car then exited the area. Cleo motioned to stop the car as she exited and convulsed him onto the sidewalk. She told him to flee quickly as the sun would soon be in the sky.
She returned to the limo with Shamus inside and they made their way back to the Alexandria Chantry in time before the sun arrived.
Once there she learned that while she was within the walls of the chantry she would not require to die for the night. She utilized this time to teach some of her students in the ways of the path of force. Two managed to make it to the first level, Vousette and t’Ukue. She had decided to do this as she knew they would be able to help as an extra defense possibility if they were attacked.
If the Sabbat were going to come to Alexandria/D.C. to take down the Camarilla, maybe it could work to her advantage. Let them come and destroy those self-imposed Ventrue and Toreador in Alexandria. Then she would swoop in and take care of the other matter. Her greatest enemy. Hopefully, they would be unaware of what she was really planning, to take down this blight that had shamed her once and for all time.
For the rest of the night she peruse the vast library in Vittorio’s old chantry and researched information on the Spear of Destiny. Power…
