Acquiring Knowledge
Cleo combed through the books of her chantry., researching the Spear of Destiny, Black Hand and Julius. The forth level of the library has circular stairs and stained glass windows, where you can see the nightscape of the astral plane.
The Spear of Destiny
Buried in an old file was a mosaic in which a face etched in the end times. A pole jabbed into his stomach. The Spear of Destiny has a lot of powers. People will flock to your cause and the holder cannot be dominated, these are the legends. Hitler’s command lost it at some point. Veiled references of someone helping Hitler during the fall of the Tremere. Hitler was not bound to the Tremere. Whoever has the spear will be victorious but will pay a big price, by he who fashioned it, Triole. He was killed in Carthage by the salt. He had the soul of Mehket as well. The Spear will reemerge. The Spear is destined to return in the final empire of blood. The Potomac empire? The final empire could be any great power. D.C. or Baltimore. Fight between Camarilla and Sabbat. Used in some way to open the gates. Possibly from the astral plane to earth.
The Black Hand
Manus Nigrun - Black Hand (Latin)
Tal Mahe’ Ra - Eastern branch
Manus Nigrun - Western branch
They were a sect of vampires in ancient history several 1,000 years ago, born before the birth of Christ, with roots in Sumar. Hints of a far older age was closer to the truth. They were working with the Antediluvians. They generally don't involve themselves in human politics. They fight a war with the Inconnu on the higher plane, a shadow war. They were not heard of since the burning times and were not openly active like the Camarilla. Within the Sabbat are the Black Hand military. They can be translated from the Book of Nod. “The Black Hand will rise and claim all within it's grasp.”
Cleo called forth the girls to see how far they had progressed in their Tremere training. They told her that they were advancing in their studies and knowledge of rituals.
Iphigenia told Cleo that Taggert had stopped by to inform her of a disturbance at the location of her old chantry in Manassas. Cleo was concerned and wanted to investigate. She requested that Vousette, Ana and T’ukue accompany her to Manassas. The girls gathered their items and made their way to the car that was requested by Iphigenia. Cleo also gathered her magic items and suited up for the night.

The Encounter
Cleo arrived at the Manassas chantry. Four security personnel were waiting at the checkpoint. One of them was Reggie who came up to the car and acknowledged Cleo. She exited her car and called upon her girls to investigate.
Reggie told Cleo that several garou were seen in the area heading away towards the southern perimeter. She quickly replied that it would seem odd for werewolves to run away from the forest, their home territory. Reggie wondered if they were running back to their car. “Their car,” replied Cleo? “Since when do garou need to drive cars to flee a crime scene?” Reggie shrugged her response off. Cleo then snapped her fingers to get her girls to follow her to the south end of the grounds.
At the outskirts of the grounds, Cleo asked T’ukue to see if there were anyone else in the area. She sensed a great astral plane disturbance and chronal fluctuations.
Cleo reached to her side for one of the trees and applied the spirit’s touch to it and saw three garou travel by. No, it was an illusion of garou, a vampiric presence was further revealed. One was known to her, Damien Luther Adams.
She called out with her auspex to see if he was near. She was able to ping to the back of his mind. He responded, and asked her what she wanted. Obviously, this Damien knew who Cleo was. Odd. Was her theory about Damien being splintered after their battle with Hirut true?
When she arrived at the trio of vampires, she was soon verbally accosted by ex-Prince George of D.C. Both began a bitchy repartee with one another. Damien asked them to stop their quarreling, then collapsed in panic. Cleo turned and saw that Julius was the third member of the party.
After awhile, Damien was once again coherent, he had mentioned who everyone was, accidentally revealing that Julius was a Ravnos. “Ravnos,” Cleo called out!
Suddenly, Julius disappeared.
Damien told Cleo that he had seen B’ashou and her adopted faerie children. He told Cleo he then entered a box and wound up here. She didn’t believe his tall story but was interrupted by Damien, who quickly obfuscated, leaving George by himself. Before George left, he called Cleo a bitch. It took everything for her not to respond. “Not worth the effort,” she told the girls. Then she told them to head back with her to their car.
On the way, she received a phone call from Desmond Faerber who said that her friend, Lucas, had attacked Karl and Hans and that she needed to come by his complex to answer questions and reveal her part in this plot against them. As she hung up the phone she arrived at the car, where she told Reggie to tighten the security around the perimeter. Once she entered the car she could hear him call her a bitch. “Twice in one night, oh dear, what does everyone think of her now, ” she thought. They then headed back towards her chantry.

Further Study
Cleo returned to the library to do further research, this time looking for knowledge on the former Prince of D.C., George.
Former Prince of D.C.: George
Prince George set himself up in early colonization of Williamsburg and Georgetown with Samal, his sire. When Samal went into torpor, he became Prince of Georgetown. He had three childer: Jacob McCauffey, who peacefully reigned together with George until Aloysius rose against them. Jacob Matteo battled with his chief warrior Saqeeto. A new ruling class was formed with Jordan and Elaine in the southern region. George maintained his kingdom until the zoo extravaganza was attacked by the Sabbat invasion of 1991 and he was presumed dead after the battle. His second childe, Pierre L’Enfant, was one of the architects of D.C. Phillipe, who works for Prince DeLaCroix was his third. George went mad towards the end of his reign He had a relationship with Joan, Baroness of Ivy city, official Mourner of Mount Ivy, Duchess of Triangle City and Domain Lord Gaulledet.

The Ventrue Ball
Cleo readied herself for the Ventrue ball. She decided that fashionable restraint was best, since it was a Ventrue ball, perhaps black, since it is the new black of the season.
Iphigenia approached Cleo and told her two escorts were waiting outside for her, Taggert and Prince DeLaCroix.
Taggert had been confused as he was sent to escort Cleo by Desmond Faerber. She told him that she had made other arrangements with the Prince.
On the way to the ball, Cleo told the Prince that she thought that their little arrangement was working for both of them and thought that their relationship needed to go to its next and logical stage. He agreed to talk to her in detail as he seemed intrigued to find out what her intentions were.
Cleo attended the Ventrue Ball at the Rothstein mansion with the Prince of Alexandria. She could see some unfamiliar faces within the crowd.
One of which was a Sakito Oonishi of the Toreador. Many whispered voice ensued from inside the crowds.
Much to the Prince’s chagrin, Sakito approached Cleo for a dance. She accepted as it was disgraceful to decline such an offer from someone she didn’t know. “One must be careful, as one never really knows where tomorrow’s riches could be acquired from,” she thought to herself …
