I've received two pairs of these great looking fish a couple of weeks ago (Thanks Rod!). The colour is amazing. I now wish I still had the albino gardneri I had 3 or so years ago. They would have been interesting to compare. They have settled in really well. They are in 2.5foot tank with some anubias and java moss. The backs, sides and the bottom of the tank is painted black, so there is no gravel in there. An air driven dual-sponge filter provides circulation and filtration.
I collect 10-15 eggs most days if I can be bothered to look through the mop. I initially tried to water incubate the eggs but they all fungused. Now I am storing the eggs over semi-damp peat and still many of them are fungusing. Or are they??? Since this fish is so whitish, do the eggs go white when developing? Or are my boys not doing their jobs properly? What are other peoples experiences with them?
Cheers,
Serkan
PS: If anybody still has albino gardneri I would love to get some

Re: Fundulopanchax gardneri Gold
Well I brought the eggs to work and put them under the microscope and took some photos.
Of 30 or so eggs only 3 are developing! They are quite prolific egg producers so even with this ratio I should be able raise a number of them without difficulty.

Re: Fundulopanchax gardneri Gold
My fry are now young adults and I've observed something very interesting. One of the males has no yellow border on the anal and dorsal fin. His 4 brothers do.
As both males from the two pairs I got had yellow bordered fins I was not expecting this.
Has anybodyelse had the same happen with their Fp.gardneri Gold?
