Wind. The most complex quarter of the elements. It can create beauty in a breath, destruction in a sneeze. Tonight, it was feeling particularly brutish as it whistled through the unyielding trees. The leaves were doing a damn good job of resisiting, but that could not be said about Seneca. Blown every which way each time he tried to move, he eventually sucked up his pride and cowered in the hollow of a large tree he had never seen before. In fact, he hadnt seen any of these trees before. Like that had any relevance right now. Moonlight seemed to simply follow the path of the wind, and soon enough it would be dark. He layed his head on his front paws and felt the soft, caressing massages of the night across his brown, silver backed fur. His eyes fell shut, but by no means was he unconcious.

how i wonder
---
When Ennui awoke, the wind was whipping through the trees at full speed all throughout Eventide Grove. She didn't mind the weather much usually, but wind was bothersome when it woke her from her sleeping. The ebon femme rolled over, but the wind was yet still chilling the cave. Ennui groaned. Goddess forbid I sleep, she muttered, and Lisai laughed in the back of her head. Now that she was semi-conscious, so was her alter identity, and Lisai wished nothing more than to annoy Ennui as much as possible at the moment, or so it seemed. Ennui untangled herself from the bodies of her sleeping children and wandered outside into the wind, hoping Lisai would blow away like the leaves on the trees.

-Sniff, sniff-. Seneca's nose protruded from the tree for the briefest of moments, catching the scent of another wolf somewhere. Upwind from him. Meh. Why not? He stuck his nose out a little further and a chilling breeze shot up his nostrils and he too shot to the back of the hollow. Thats why! He hated the cold. Hated it. For a hunter/gatherer is was pretty pathetic, but he didn't care. He was only gathering for himself anyway. The wind picked up as darkness slowly fell. To Hell with going anywhere. He settled himself down again and tucked his tail around his front. A makeshift barrier against natures evil. Well, fancy coming to me? Silence fell around him. Nothing but the roaring and howling. Yes, sweet silence. Amidst the small cluster of trees, he howled. A pasttime he enjoyed. His lungs felt like balloons waiting to explode. He howled into the night, into the wind, into Arciero.

hide and seek
---
The sound of another wolf calling caught Ennui offguard. It wasn't far off, where the male was calling from... Really just a few minutes walk, if you didn't consider the wind resistance that night. He seemed to have sensed her presence, and she too sensed his now, more on her guard. She inhaled, sniffing for any others, but the male seemed to be alone. She paused. Should she respond? She had children to care for, she couldn't afford to make stupid decisions now. But she soon decided that it wouldn't be a stupid decision to see who this wolf was, so she got up and paced back into her den. Fiera, Sindri. Mama is going out for a while. Be back soon. Then she turned and ran off into the wind, against the wind, towards where the call had come from.

After a hearty howl, he let himself curl up into one big furry ball, the line of silver fur that ran from his tail, along his back and ended in a point between his eyes was all that kept him from sinking into the colour of tree. He didnt know if the other wolf was coming or not, or even if she cared.. wait, she? He sniffed again and realised the scent was getting stronger. Easily a female. His eyes lit up somewhat. keeping his yellow gaze fixed on the entrace to his hollow, he let loose a tremendous yawn, revealing several rows of pointed teeth. One was chipped and resembled a vampires fang. He loved to blow air out through it. So he did, and a soft whistle echoed around him, bouncing of his musical body.

cosmic drafts
---
Ennui slowed down as the wind picked up again, and she struggled to press against the heavy drafts towards the scent of the male. It was difficult now to tell where the howl had come from, and she waited for a moment in a good few places, looking around and waiting to see if anyone appeared. But over and over again, there was nothing but herself, the wind and the scent of another. She leaned against a tree that she knew was hollow on one side, inhaling deeply. She could tell that he wasn't far from her, which was annoying, because she still couldn't find him. He was close by... but where?

Yeah. he was definate that this was a female. And she had almost found him. He felt somewhat bad for encouraging her to come to him in this weather, but this soon vanished as he realised he could have fun with this. He raised his head and crawled towards the entrance, wanting another layer of fur more than most things. He tenatively sniffed at the air, trying to figure out exactly where she was. He couldnt see her. "Where are you, hm? I wonder. The howling stopped for the briefest of seconds and he heard a breath. Hell no. She was about six feet away from him, hidden behind his hollow. He smirked and crept round the side as slowly as he could, the soft noises he made with his paws masked by the wind. He barked loudly, lying as low as possible, grinning as widely as he could.

drunk with ignorance
---
The voice made her realise how stupid she was being. She turned around, just as he barked loudly, a silly grin on his face. She laughed, even though she knew she should be insulted. She was the Alphess here, the highest ranking wolf in the entire place. She owned this territory, and it was obvious. She knew that the male's playfulness towards her was a lack of respect, but she held herself upright anyhow. She didn't feel like taking offense at the moment. Who're you? She asked him, still smiling, although it looked more like a smirk.

He grinned and pushed upwards off the floor, now standing proudly. Well, proudly enough. "Who am I? Why I am the infamous Seneca. Why, who're you?" He grinned even more and cocked his head to the side, the silvery mane swaying with the G's. His tail danced around gently behind him, completely separate from his body. He was completely lost, and yet he still managed to find another of his kind. He WAS good. But then again, maybe she wasn't the kind of wolf he had hoped for. She might be one of those leader wolves he had been hated by not too long ago. His smile twitched as he remembered the Alhpha Male, Xxelis. Stern and strict, he could not tolerate the antics of an insubordinate such as Seneca, even though his hunting skills were 'adept'. He sniffed again, smiling. Yup, definately a female.

how shall i respond?

Ennui liked to fool around enough herself, so it wasn't as if she could have expected anything else from a young wolf without being hypocritical. Besides the point, this male... Seneca... reminded her of her own son, Sindri. The two of them would be fast friends, Ennui was sure of it. But do you trust this male enough to let him near your young? Lisai taunted. Ennui knew the answer. No. The answer was always no. Still, she couldn't see the hard in introducing herself. Quiet and polite, she addressed the boy. I am Ennui Svajone, Alphess of these lands.

Ohhhh nuts. 'Alphess of these lands'. The glow fell from his eyes and the smile disintegrated into a bland frown. So much for being good. He recoiled slightly, the pose he had struck became a reserved stand, his tail curling behind and under him. "Oh.. uhm.. I'm sorry for sneaking up on you Miss.." Nuts! How did she just pronounce her name? 'Ennuee? Ennuay? Enny?!' ".. Ennui.." He muttered.

poor lost sheep

Ennui smiled a little. He was trying so hard, upon realising who she was, and she recognised that. She nodded her head in greeting. It's quite alright, child, she said gently, very out of her normal character traits. Normally, she might have forced submission upon one who had done something like this, but she'd found it actually rather amusing, and he was making up for it quickly. So she said, Haven't you a home, boy? It seemed odd that he was all alone.

After reaching the point where he could recoil no more, he sighed quietly and realised that if he stood like this for much longer he would develop cramp in every muscle in his hind leg. And that would hurt. But, he couldnt just shift position. His legs started to shake. 'Havent you a home, boy?' She asked calmly, which caught him ever more off guard. He could feel the heat leaving his legs as the blood flushed. He stuttered a reply. "I.. I did have a home. I was driv--"His tone changed quickly. "Theyre all dead now." Cold and bitter. He turned his head away from Ennui's and stared at the dirt, cursing silently. Yes, they were dead. 'Fwump'. His back legs gave up.

been bitter too long
---
The boy seemed so bitter that Ennui had to give in. Lisai taunted and taunted in the back of her head, but nothing the voice said changed her mind. You idiot, don't do it, Lisai muttered. He's probably a murderer, probably killed everybody was what he likely did, that's right. Ennui didn't care for anything that Lisai was saying. She smiled almost kindly at the young boy, trying to decide how weird it was that someone managed to touch her enough that she was being kind. Finally, she gave up and said simply, Join my pack, then.

Idiot. You just fell over. Who falls over through their own weight? He cursed quietly in his head, laughing at his own foolishness. But Ennui's offer soon silenced that noise. His eyes widened and he stared up at the wolf stood before him. No, she wont have offered that. "But she just did!" he screamed at himself. His tail sprang to life behind him unaware. This rather abrupt movement shattered the pose he was trying to make. He didnt want to look excited. He didnt want her to know he would love new companions. "But what if she cant tolerate you just like before?" A moments thought. He spoke again, although it was with about as much confidence as a sheep in a pack of wolves. Uhm

just walk beside me, be my friend
---
Ennui smirked to herself, knowing that he was trying not to look excited. She didn't want to seem desperate, which she kind of was at this point, so she kept quiet. She was desperate, not just because her "pack" was only herself and her pups since everyone else had disappeared or gotten killed, but because she seemed to have taken a liking to Seneca right away. She paused, then she spoke again, ignoring Lisai's soft taunts in the back of her head. C'mon...

Without another moments hesitation, Seneca hopped up onto all fours. His bright smile had returned, the bitterness he had felt beforehand smothered for now, until the next time he cared to remember the ones he once called 'family'. Questions of wonder and questions about more questions chased around his mind as he walked up alongside Ennui, waiting for her next instruction. Who else was in this pack of hers? How many would be as kind as she was? He hoped they all would be. Maybe she had young ones in her pack too, wolves for him to play with. He could learn to hunt properly too. But what was this place? Where had he wandered to? What WAS there to hunt?

speaking of hunting...
---
Ennui took his response to be a yes, and turned to walk, tilting her head to beckon him to come back to her den with her. She needed to get back anyhow, Sindri and Fiera would be waking soon enough. She frowned though... She would need to hunt this morning. She turned to the male, Seneca... And to her surprise, fluid words rolled off her tongue like rain. Do you hunt, pup?
