Character Creation: Hunter
While I love the base that the Hunter: the Apocalypse is based on, I was a bit wary of some of the rules that seemed to grant far too much power, and frustrated by others that either did nothing or made no sense. To deal with these blemishes on an otherwise very good game, I have taken some things apart, added others, and generally rewritten entire sections of Edges and other Hunter stuff.
Below you will find what you need to create a Hunter: the Reckoning character for our game:
- Hunter: the Reckoning Core Book (download the .pdf)
- Revised List of Edges (download)
- Advanced Combat booklet (download)
- Character Sheet (I will design custom ones on request)
Any additional resources, like the Hunter: the Reckoning Player’s Guide and any of the Edge books can be borrowed from my place (and preferably kept within my four walls, though I will lend a book out from time to time).
The Advanced Combat rules are a bit tricky, but I can easily walk you through a few test scenarios to make sure we have combat down before play begins (I will usually only do this with the melee-oriented characters). For the purposes of character creation, your PC gains 2 action points for each dot he has in the following Traits: Melee, Firearms, Brawl, Dodge and Athletics. Each of these action points can be spent of Advanced Maneuvers, but only in their respective slots (you can use Brawl points to learn a Crescent Kick, but not a Back-flip, as those are Athletic points).
If you have four or more dots in Brawl or Melee, then you must choose a martial arts discipline from the list. Any Brawl or Melee points spent in this art are now gained at half cost (this includes during character creation, with Storyteller approval)
