Advice Needed
Hi,

I'm starting a post graduate SLT course in September. I have done a little bit of reading in the meantime just to refresh my memory and am having trouble getting to grips with some of the technical vocabulary used in some literature, particularily terms used in psycology and nuerology which I have not previously studied.

Could anybody recommend a good dictionary that would include psycology/nuerology/medical terms as my pocket-sized Oxford dictionary just doesn't do the trick!?

Thanks,

Siobhan

Re: Advice Needed
Hi,

I've used an old copy of Bailliere's Nurses' Dictionary which has been great for helping with terms used in anatomy and physiology. I'd recommend buying a copy of this - a newer version than mine will probably be tonnes better too! I anticipate it being a useful resource that'll be used long after qualifying too.

Also, a book called Basic Medical Science for Speech and Language Therapy Students is good for anatomy - if you're going to Sheffield or Newcastle this should be particularly relevant as the authors are from these universities.

Hope this helps,

Jenny
